I've yet to see 2 things mentioned as possibilities in this long ass thread:
1 - Trade down by swapping 1st this year, but gaining BUF's 1st NEXT YEAR. They won't be great, so mid-Rd likely. No way would BUF trade both 1sts this year anyway along with the 2nd, 3rd, etc. as mentioned.
1a - I do NOT see Pace trading down in the 2nd. Not when you can have 1st level talent slip to that pick. If it doesn't THEN Pace might drop in the 2nd to regain that 3rd if not already. Pace's high 2nd is NOT in play IMO.
2 - The only way Bears are getting calls is if there are MULTIPLE teams vying for a remaining QB unless things go crazy and another guy really drops.
BUF or others will be calling OAK or maaybe SF to jump OAK the way Pace jumped to 3 last year knowing he had competition. If there was a QB needy team right after Bears at 9, then yeah, but it would take a pretty crazy bid war to escalate above OAK and above SF to Bears at 3rd level. Everybody knows none of these 3 teams are drafting a QB so they would let the QB(s) continue to fall. Am I missing something here? OAK will be getting the first call to move up while Bears are on the clock, then maybe SF.
Unless Pace knew for damn sure a team or 2 wanted that last top tier QB and picked him to put up as trade bait to highest bidder? Nope. He'll be happy with Nelson, Edwards, Ward, whoever his BPA is at that point...still a top 3-5 blue chip.
