I used to play Magic a lot in High School till most of my cards were stolen from my bookbag, then I kinda phased out cause it was too expensive to start over. Anyway, I get really tired of articles like that one trying to charecterize it as something much seedier than what it is because of it's undertones. This could have just as easily have been two guys killing someone over baseball cards, but they wouldn't portray the act of collecting baseball cards and anything other than wholesome even though it would still be associated with the same heinous crime. It really is ignorance. I would imagine to 99% of all people who play Magic, this type of thought never crossed there mind, and I guarentee it wasn't even motivated by the game itself but greed. They aren't kidding when they say that he could have had upward of 100k in cards. That's enough to invite this stupid crime alone and has nothing to do with Magic. They don't even know if they people who killed him played magic. It's just sensentionalizing journalism again at it's finest. And it's fucking lazy.

First link I posted stated they were regular players in Pensacola area that dropped out of that scene several years ago. also goes into detail about the money side of "Magic", the trading and buying of cards ect... Apparently people make a decent living just trading cards.

Yeah, I didn't read that far as I was too disgusted by the writing, but reading the rest of it, it's more than clear to me that this didn't have anything to do with Magic and was purely financially motivated. The game didn't drive these people to commit this murder.

This just made my day... Truly.

I think the best part was:

Kitson told the Digital Journal that Jimenez is planning to sue the church for $3 million after losing his leg, because he will not be able to return to his job at a pizza restaurant.

I'm going to merge this into the bizarre death and injury thread where it's already been talked about.

This was too good not to post.

HOLLY HILL, Fla. (WTVR) – Police arrested a Florida man accused of killing his roommate over a pork chop. A man who lived in the home with the suspect, Tom Hahn, and the victim, Robert Gray, told WFTV that two were arguing over pork chops.

“I don’t know what was wrong with that pork chop, but they had some kind of argument over a pork chop,” roommate Tim Santimver said. “It’s usually very peaceful here and this was an isolated incident that got out of control.”

Hahn, who made an initial court appearance Wednesday, told the judge he and Gray had a history of disagreements. Police said Hahn told his other roommates he would shoot Gray if he ever came home drunk. Police said Hahn even loaded his .22 caliber rifle the three bullets and said “that should be enough.”

Police are not sure if Gray was drunk when he arrived home this week. Roommates said when the two started to argue over the way a pork chop was cooked, Hahn grabbed his gun and shot Gray – hitting him twice in the head.

Hahn is charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Guy should've learned how to cook a pork chop. A real judge would understand and acquit

First off.... How did the horn penetrate her chest.... FROM BEHIND... doesn't that mean that the horn penetrated her back...

and lastly... aren't rhino's the most dangerous animal on land or something like that? or is that Hippos?

Chest cavity, would be a more appropriate description.
