To me its just kind of a waste. Can a guy like Ott be that expensive? A faceoff guy that can actually still play. I actually liked Handzus game when he was here for a cup of coffee a few years ago....but he has slowed to a snailspace now. Should've saved the pick to be part of a deal for Ott or even Roy.

By expensive you're referring to what it take to acquire him, right?

Handzus's cap hit is irrelevant because he keeps the Hawks under the cap for this year and his deal expires in the offseason.

Ott is $3.2 million/per year and has another year after this season.

Didn't the slugs flip Roy to attain Ott? They have probably set the bar there to make up for their own buttfuckery.

Yes and everything seems to suggest that Ott is going to cost a lot in trade.

Given the last few games, this thread is moderately humorous.

1) its a sample size. 2) when you have a team with the most depth in the NHL role players look much better due to the oppositions best being on our best.

oh yeah, I agree...I actually agreed w/ everyone else when we traded for him.... "meh...good for depth..." At least he's proving to be that.

I saw him as a nice, Sami Pahlsson better than a "done" Mayers fit for the team. He's been better fitting than I thought as well.

Of course he's doing better for being on a good situation but keeping up, up and down the ice and producing isn't something that's been done for that #2 center spot on this team.

Still can't skate worth shit, but I think he's a big reason the Hawks are where they are. Needed a vet to center that second line.

I still would prefer Ott but I have to admit, he's doing better offensively than I thought he would.
