Oh, my mistake.

I'm not one for the typical shit on Stalberg festival that this place usually is, but the guy got 4th line minutes because that's what he deserved. He got bounced around and did end up on the top line with Kane and Toews for a game or two. He didn't stay up there because he didn't earn it (he wasn't a good fit, he didn't produce, whatever the reason).

I don't think the coaches have a vendetta against the guy, but on a team that has such a strong top 6, you can't just plug young guys (that don't produce immediately) up there and wait for them to catch fire. Could you do it on the Hawks roster 6 years ago? Absolutely. Not this team though.

The only thing holding back Viktor is Viktor.

I got a theory about the top line- the Hawks are continually trying to find a big guy to play phyiscal with those 2- I thought I remembered someone mentioning that Scott may have played with them a couple of shifts?

I know they had Bickell with them at times, as well as Buff... they keep trying to find that type of guy - Stalberg- I think they were hoping for me -as he is a bigger type guy - but --- like with Bickell, no dice, didn't work so well. . . Scott- well, Scott is Scott, Buff was the ideal fit (imo) -but finances dictated he had to go... as I mentioned on another thread, I think they will try plugging in Carcillo there to see what happens.

Don't know- Carcillo in the past has had issues with penalties and not had to play with much responsibility... there is a reason he was a cheap signee -so if they do actually go this route I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't work so well.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't give Stalberg another shot on the top line either -but, it is one of those things -as Buff above said:

The only thing holding back Viktor is Viktor.

In the end, I think they end up going with a guy like Smith, or Morin -or some other plug in that may not be on the team yet - as the Kane Toews line chemistry works pretty well - they just need someone that adds to that line without holding it back.

It was technically his first season in the NHL. He mostly played 4th line minutes and that took a hit at leting him get to the expectations epected by everyone. Give the guy an actual shot at making it in the top 6 before he is bashed.

He did not belong on the top 6. Never has and probably never will on a team(s) like the hawks. A bottom tier team rebuilding? sure. A team trying to win another cup? no fucking chance.

Please explain why you think he should be a top 6 guy? Did you watch him play? Great he is fast in a straight line! that doesnt mean he is a top 6 forward. his puck control is below avg at best, he cant skate other than straight. When he did get mins on the top lines he looked lost.

how many more years are you going to give this guy? Are you going to continue to use the excuse that he is a product of the 4th line? Maybe he is what he is....a 4th line player. What has he done for the fans that make you guys want to stroke his ****? I just dont get the love affair for a mediocre 4th line player.

better choices.

stalberg on a line with hossa is dead weight and will make that 2nd line a non factor.

He has played just over a full season in games in NHL...

When you finally get to play a full season in the NHL and you are playing with John Scott and Ryan Johnson...24 points, a 2 +/- rating with an average of 15 shifts per game is good IMO

He isnt a defensive liability either which is key...

He signed for $850,000...look at other players with his offensive stats, and he was a steal money wise...

The kid has played 117 NHL games...these next 2 years will determine what he will be IMO

For his price, he is a great player with the tools to succeed...he just needs to put them together (which he now has 2 years to do)

Also, this is a nice breakdown of his goals...

9 of his 12 goals this past season were when the Hawks were trailing or tied...3 of those were game winning goals...his goals werent meaningless...

He was also 2/2 in shootouts :)D)

But I know you will just put  and call me a homer, so just forget it

A line with Hossa and Sharp will be a non-factor? :smh:

Uh the guy the guy barely qualifies as a 4th liner. Top 6? :lmao:

I think the reason for the Stalberg love is because Serious has been against him the entire time. Hell Stalberg should be an all-star :lmao:

Any time you like Joe ... there are a few of us waiting -- I dunno, is it that you "feel like you analysed it once already and can't be bothered revisiting it." ???

If so, you don't have a problem revisiting your conclusion.

So, when you get a chance, a nice in depth posting about what exactly it is that you have a problem with Stalberg is -it would really be appreciated.

Why is it so hard to grasp here? Stalberg on the 4th line is fine. Stalberg as a top 6 is a fucking joke. There is no data to back up that he should be on the top 6 and that he would be an asset on the top 6. You dont win games on what Tblow is trying to sell everyone.... "potential". If you think he is going to bust out and blossom into this amazing top 6 forward you are just fooling yourself.

Tblow makes the point about salary etc. great, he is cheap...play on the 4th line. simple shit.

If I am rebuilding a team, maybe, just maybe he is a top 6 forward on a team rebuilding...not a contending team for the west.

117 games and 21 goals for a 19 year old, than maybe we can talk about him being young. This guy isnt 19.

And this whole "puts things together" shit is just fans throwing shit hoping it sticks.

on a side note* I doubt he is going to be playing top 6 minutes this year anyway.....and like what tblow says all the time...".il take the GM or coaches opinion over a messageboard user" I will use that card now and say the same thing about his top 6 minutes he had last year.

Any guy who hands the hands to pull this off deserves a shot at the top six:

But you guys are willing to put Morin and Smith in that chance? Smith would probably handle it, but Morin is a long shot.

Oh look joe comes out when he has back-up, still can't answer any questions though, he has to avoid it through dewcawks :p

Also how many shifts did Stalberg get with Kane and Toews? Not many. The same thing happened to Brouwer, you get bounced around and have to switch your gae up, its fustrating. Stalberg never got the chance Bouwer always got. Brouwer point total and production on the ice went down.

As far as Stalberg not being physical enough, he improved that the 2nd half last year. The guyrew up in Europe, its ery rare to see physical hockey there.

But again they still avoid my question of what makes him crap, the only answer i get is he played on the 4th line, nice answer makes me wonder if theres any hockey IQ
