So glad we signed him to a 2 year deal.

How about your boy Hammer? After the same amount of games played as Scott this year, are you glad he's signed to 3million more per year for 2 more years after Scott?

Hell would freeze before you even think about creating a thread blasting Hammer. Get over it already. Really.

Ok, but please realize that it's not really his job to be awesome at hockey. He is out there to get his monster frame in the way of shots and help protect the roster. Expecting more would be similar to expecting ants to build a nuclear warhead.

I've been to a few places, and thought about things with regards to this guy Scott. The deal is that at this point in the season he hasn't been called upon to do any "goon things" -so until that point where he is actually called upon to do the job he actually does -I want to reserve judgment on the guy.

I would like to see if the guy can screen the net in a forward role -but I wouldn't pull that stunt in a close game -only a blow out, I guess I'm thinking on a power play.

How about his mammoth size that can be used to push people around? Or the fact that he is an enforcer that can protect our star players?
Like Iago said, he can't be called upon this early to be a "goon"...time will show his true value to this team

Id also like him to try some screening the goalie during the PP...

Nothing Joe... I do think the guy is entitled to a fair go -and if and when the time comes to dump on the guy, I would anticipate being able to make an educated dump -it's all I am saying.

At the moment it seems like the guy is trying for the Lady Byng (a single minor in 4 games?!) Ok, well if that is the way the team wants to go with this guy, he probably better be able to actually play hockey.

I can't wait until next week when I can get a little bandwidth flexibility to see some of the highlights (nevermind -long story -but a Gamers Gate fail ... sort of left me a little low on it this month :( ).

i think the problem is that you guys have too high expectations for him...he's a 3rd pairing d-man...he's not SUPPOSED to put up Keith-like numbers

The NHL today has no need for enforcers you need a guy who can fight and still play his position. John Scott has trouble doing the "play his position" part of the game that is where he is only worth $500,000 a year doesn't make him useful but whatever we are stuck with him and if somebody can teach him how to skate that would be fantastic.

I disagree....one of the weaknesses last year for the hawks (one of few) was that we didnt have a true enforcer....nobody was there to knock people around and drop the gloves (and dont say eager because all he did was talk)

If enforcer isnt important, then why did Boogard get 3 mil/year this summer?

I think everyone is hockey is still trying to figure out why boogard got that contract. The enforcer isn't as important any more like it use to be. Teams used to have a guy and that is all he did was fight and enforce the game. Nowadays teams need guys who can fight and play their positions other wise they are useless. John Scott is becoming useless because Coach Quenneville doesn't like the quote Enforcers to take stupid penalties end quote so the guys who fight on the Blackhawks think twice before they just drop the gloves. Dowell has fought more this season than John Scott and is more useful than Scott will ever be.

I agree with TBO the hawks need that tough guy to protect our guys. An example is when Seabrook got hit by Wiz last year, our 4th line was out there and our so called "enforcers" were no were in sight to stick up for him. Guys like Scott will keep teams honest from doing that again. Personally I wish we would have a forward to do this but obviously Bowman thought Scott was good enough.

The boogey man got that contract to lure him to the east. Those teams out east are pretty stacked with toughness, so when the Hawks play these teams Scott will come in handy.

But in all honesty, Scott was here to protect the players, and he has to be dressed to protect them, so dont expect him to be out of the line up much.

Yea **** that Keith went over to Wiz after the hit alot good of that. And dick head Boynton got his ass kicked by Wiz late in that game. I get what Scott is for he's just got to be better at playing hockey because he doesn't fight all the time and doesn't have to all the time. If he's not helping the team in any why he should not be in uniform. RIGHT OR AM I JUST A RA-TARD?
