Frolik Going To Convention? Signed? - Second City Hockey

While nothing is official as of yet, it seems like our latest Czech savior will be joining all the sweaty masses at the Convention this weekend (hockey sweaters aren't meant for July, people... they're called sweaters for a reason). Jesse Rogers initially reported yesterday that Michael Frolik might be attending the convention. Certainly a good sign but nothing solid. This morning though, Tracey Meyers re-tweeted a post from some dude named Pavel Barta saying he'd spoken to Frolik's agent and learned that Fro had signed a 3 year deal for 6.9 million. Both Rogers and Meyers seem a little hesitant to confirm this in subsequent posts though.. so stay tuned. Barta seems pretty convinced and has sent out several other posts but this would hardly be the first time someone spread false info on the internets.

At first glance, 2.3 Million cap hit is a tad bit high but Frolik is a two-time 20 goal scorer and a third line of Frolik-Bolland-Bickell looks pretty solid.. but who the hell knows how the lines will shape up. If anything, this will at least give the Hawks something to announce at tonight's opening ceremony. "Toews is captain", this is not.. but it's something I guess.

If that is true it is not the worst deal. Like the article said, he is a young 2 time 20 goal scorer..... compared to other deals this offseason that is a very good number.

Looking forward to the Bolland/Bickell/Frolik line in next year's playoffs to shut down the top lines in the West. They OWNED the Sedins last year.

I'm amused by the fact his deal was broke by a bunch of reports linking a Czech news site and Kopecky's deal was reported on a Slovakian page like a day before the Panthers reported it official.

1.2 mil to 2.3 is pretty steep. He better produce.

Though I think this is a bit much for Frolik (considering I pegged him at a 1.5-1.75 guy), I thought he and stalberg combined would run us about 3 mill a year, and considering we got Stalberg for 875 that's about where I thought the pair would run us. Not a horrible deal.

I'm still ill that we didn't sign a solid 2 line center, but whatever...

Brouwer put up 17 and 19 last year if I recall correctly. Mire thancthat the prior year and he was dealing with the issues surrounding his dad and the missed time. I didn't think of it in these terms, but the above statement about keeping Brouwer is right. He's more productive, has been a hitter, and would have run the same coin. That sorta pisses in the soup for me. If Frolik doesn't put up the numbers Brouwer has for the last two years I'll be cheesed. He needs to surpass those totals.
