Holy shit. This move dashes hopes for a rebuild, but it's still a pretty damn good pick-up, I'd say. And all we gave up was the Seabrook contract. Johnson's contract is for 3 years at 5 million, with a modified no-trade clause. Not terrible.
I have to wonder if all this talent that's being acquired this year will be squandered with Colliton behind the bench. I also have to wonder if Johnson will be effective on a shallower team like the Hawks compared to Tampa.
I almost feel like this move was made because Toews is still a question mark. Ideally, you'd want Johnson on the third or second if Kirby can't find his game, but maybe it's a Plan-B for a top-line center who can play/appease Kane.
