10 weeks ago it was still one of the greatest moves in franchise history. Now it's time for him to go?

10 weeks ago he wasn't acting like a petulant child. There's plenty that Stoltz witnessed by being around. Marshall at Halas Hall and has seen from the press box. If you heard Marshall's press conference today you'd here even more of that petulant child like behavior and how he started to sound Ryan Leaf like towards the reporter questioning him.

Losing brings out the worst in everybody.

Losing does bring out the worst in everybody normally. The great ones rise above the carnage presenting itself and in many cases advance to be better than they ever expected.

these guys really hate marshall, I still think he is a beast of a receiver. Any chance they are into something? are we better off without him? They keep saying that he will be gone at the end of the season, I think they are Special person. is there any merit to this?

Those 2 ass clowns try to stir up controversy to get ratings, they are absolutely the worst sports talk show in the city. If you want more level headed adult sports talk try The Game 87.7 or ESPN 1000.

Marshall has issues, but those two losers have no idea what is going on in the locker room, pure speculation on their part. The Bears have larger problems than Marshall. They know it as well, those two are pure assholes!

Lot going on in this thread. First off, there's a serious credibility issue in play whenever Boers and Bernstein (especially Bernstein) take a negative stance against Marshall because they've been doing that before the ink dried on the paperwork of the trade that sent him to Chicago. Bernstein's whining about Marshall has only gotten louder this season. So don't put all of your stock in what they say. I'd suggest not listening at all, but that feels like a losing battle.

Now, Marshall cannot be absolved completely in this ordeal, either. I've seen the poor body language at times. I've seen the things that Stoltz references in his article. Although, I'd like to point out that Marshall taking himself out after certain plays is something he's done for since he's come to Chicago. Alshon does it, too. Just seems like part of the plan. Just so happened to come before a fourth down one time and everybody lost their minds.

I think you're just seeing a LOT of frustration out of Marshall. You don't think it's wearing on him that, after a decade in the league, he still hasn't made the playoffs? That'd drive me insane as well. And as his team continues to fall apart around him, I'm not surprised that he's joining in the calamity as well.

I do think some of his antics get overblown because of the reputation he has (and rightfully so) after his stints in Miami and Denver. But I don't believe this is the same WR that got ran out of those locker rooms; I truly don't.

I just think you have to look at these outbursts with the perspective that this entire Bears team has, for the last 3 weeks, completely imploded. Nothing is going right. I have a hard time believing a lot of this stuff would be going on if the Bears were expected to be this bad or if they were 5-4 or 6-3.

You can criticize Marshall. He's made some mistakes. But I don't believe you can treat these things as if they happened in a vacuum. There are some quite significant circumstances that are fueling these behaviors.

And, no, I haven't seen Marshall do enough things yet that would lead me to believe it's worth thinking about cutting him. Still way too soon for that.

Lmao the guy who took a paycut to re-sign with us, overcame BPD disorder after several years of going off the deep end, and donated $1 million of his newly signed contract to mental health foundations is easy to hate...

Gotta love Bears fans.

Does anyone here think that if someone had personally insulted the mother of Butkus, Ditka, Payton, Singletary, or Doug and O'B (or any other Bears player with integrity) that they would have given that guy the courtesy of putting on gloves? To have Emery respond by telling Marshall to read his contract strains belief (actually I guess it doesn't) - Marshall is a guy who plays tough and injured and has success. And he has enough pride to let everyone know when they're not playing up to the standards of the franchise. He stood up for his mother. To tell him to read his contract is asinine. It smacks of bureaucratic rationality run amok. To Phil and Marc, this isn't some fucking financial investment firm - it's football. Show some goddamn respect.

To be fair, and i really really like Stoltz, but a lot of that came off as self serving. Marshall shunned the media, and rightfully so, because Chicago media should be shunned with their overly sensationalist bullshit. This left Stoltz out on the cold and with an immediate uncharacteristic negative slant against Marshall with no real specifics. Came off childish

He lost me a bit at the end of his article with this part:

My long-time readers know I’m not one who sensationalizes player attitudes. I’ve witnessed first-hand behavior of Jay Cutler that is far worse than the way in which he’s portrayed by the media, which is extremely negative to begin with. Yet I believe Cutler is actually a good teammate and I’ve never let my personal bias of him affect my coverage of him as a quarterback.
With Marshall, it's different, as I'm not sure he's a good teammate. I believe he truly wants to win but it seems like the pot is about to boil over. When it does, that could scald a large portion of the team and make it nearly impossible for the Bears to have a successful 2014 campaign.
The team has eight games left, five of which are divisional contests. Even at 3-5, a strong finish to the year could propel the team to the postseason. Yet it won’t happen if one of the team leaders acts like a team cancer.
If Marshall continues to carry his frustrations on the field, all will be lost for the Bears this year.

To me, that's very similar to someone on the Internet throwing their alleged credentials around to solidify their argument. If that's what you're resorting to, your argument probably isn't all that good to begin with.

Solid assessment Dmelt. Kill that signature, or maybe seek out a "Signature Doctor." I can recommend a guy, "Hollywood Harmeyer" that is absolute tits!

Love Jeremy Stoltz' work, though.

I did not hear about teammates getting between him and media. I know there was a douche Lions fan that was baiting Marshall, calling him brandy or some shit and something was said about his mom. Marshall, being the emotional outspoken guy that has bouts of dumbfuckitis (which was one of my earlier points) took the bait and it got out of hand. When this team is having historically shitty games on ALL sides of the ball, why is the shit that is happening with Marshall surprising to ANYONE!! Social media is something that If I was a coach, I would strongly encourage my entire organization to not get involved with. When I read about what Emory said, I took it as his very dry, sense of humor. Maybe I'm interpreting that wrong, but I took it as Emory saying "Yeah, ok Brandon....umm lets turn off all electrical devices and come back to reality".

Exactly. Today in the locker room. Peggy guzinski(sp) supposedly asked Marshall what he thought about Emery's comments about him needing to read his contract and that the fight actually breaks that contract. Supposedly Marshall went on a crazy rant blowing emery off like his comments dont matter. To the point that in the middle of the rant Bennet stepped into the media and started asking goofy questions to get Marshall to stop talking about it. And then some of his teammates were telling media that trestman is about to speak and they should probably go listen to that...

When you sign a contract and something you are doing is breaking the contract then maybe you should be obliging to what YOU agreed to. And if your boss has to tell you to knock it off you dont go out to public ranting and blowing him off.
