Re:bosh or stoudamire(not sure how to spell his na
I really have nothing to say to the people that would prefer Tyrus over Bosh or Amar'e, and also people that would prefer to trade Noah over Tyrus to match up with either of those players. People just don't seem to understand that Noah is a legit 7 footer (or close to), with good size and he has already progressed better on a yearly basis over Tyrus. But with that being said..
... I'm a little torn on who I'd prefer.
Defense:
The first player that people would side with in regards to defense it would be Bosh, but when Amar'e knuckles down he is a very capable defensive player. Bosh has to work extra hard to make a difference on the defensive end, where as Amar'e is strong enough and athletic enough to make it easy when he actually wants to play defense and is focused.
I may give Bosh a little edge on the defensive end, but not by much.
Offense:
Amar'e. He is a beast on the inside who can score with either hand, can absorb contact and still finish plays on a very consistent basis. He has also developed a very reliable mid-range shot that goes down at a very respectable clip, and he also has an almost unstable baby hook that he often goes to now. Basically, when he wants to be and when you funnel the ball into him, he'll score somehow.
Bosh is the new generation type of big man, he starts from the outside, and slowly makes his way inside. The good thing about this is that he is a very good shooter from the mid-range so it makes sense.
Both a very good free throw shooters for big men, both get to the line at a very good rate also. But the edge definitely has to go to Amar'e just because of how many more different ways he can score, and his shooting percentage is just phenomenal.
Health:
People side with Bosh, but Bosh isn't exactly a healthy player on a year to year basis either. Bosh the last few years, has consistently missed about 10-20 games yearly, and has only played more than 80 games once in his career, where as Amar'e has played 3 season of 80 games or more.
I understand that the severity of his injuries are a lot worse than Bosh's but his main concern is his knee and he hasn't shown any major signs that his knees is a factor as he has played 82 games and 79 games after the injury, and this season his time was cut short because of his eye. Whereas Bosh always seems to have niggling injuries year after year. I don't know, it's not as easy as siding with Bosh over Amar'e though you still have to give the edge to Bosh just because his injuries haven't been as serve.
Intangibles:
Side by side, Amar'e is definitely the more dominate player. It's like comparing apples with apples, both are basically star-calibre forwards in this league and both are likely to go to the hall of fame when it's all said and done, which is why you've got to make a serious push to get either player, regardless of their faults. I mean, people seem to try and pick at every players faults, and if you look hard enough, you're bound to find something with ANY player. But I'll go with Amar'e, he has played on the bigger stage, in bigger games, he is bigger, and though he seems a little eccentric but how many star players aren't? Most start players come with big egos, and it's part of the package, but the beauty of him playing with the Bulls is that Rose will allow Amar'e to take the lime light as he goes about his business.
I vote Amar'e. He is the bigger gamble, but he will have the bigger pay off by a larger margin.
