Rule 75 - Unsportsmanlike Conduct

75.1 Unsportsmanlike Conduct – Players, goalkeepers and non-playing Club personnel are responsible for their conduct at all times and must endeavor to prevent disorderly conduct before, during or after the game, on or off the ice and any place in the rink. (i) Any identifiable player who uses obscene, profane or abusive language or gestures directed at any person.


75.5 Game Misconduct Penalty – Game misconduct penalties shall be assessed under this rule for the following infractions:

(ii) Any player who uses obscene gestures on the ice or anywhere in the rink before, during or after the game. The Referee shall report the circumstances to the Commissioner of the League for further disciplinary action

Thats what i could dig up, because the weren't threatening gestures i'm guessing the worse he could have got was a 2:00 penalty

I do like comment the NHL will find a way to suspend Avery somehow. haha.

I anticipate a fine, but no suspension...however, again, if the league feels to make an example of him as they did with Boynton...it could happen.
