I don't agree that Omar should NEVER start, but Morel needs to know the position is his and only his. He'll be better when he knows that. That's why he was a little better the few games after Teahen was traded. Just give him time to grow. He's a rookie.

The only time Omar should start is when Morel needs a break, and when Ramirez or Beckham need a break. That's it.

If our DH and 1B can still hit homers and Quentin can do it he should be fine without having the power. If this offense actually played the way it was expected to at the beginning of the year, Morel wouldn't be a problem. Now that the offense is terrible, Beckham and Morel's blunders at the plate are more recognized.

Olerud was a top tier 1b and really had no power with solid d! 1b is considered a power spot just like 3b and he did just fine. Power at 3b can be overrated. I rather have a solid .300 hitter at the plate with the game on the line and men in scoring position than a power hitter that strikes out. If Morel can hit .265-.285 and hit in the gaps I'm good with him because with his glove he can save some games in the field. Not many 3b out there I can think of I would rather have taking care of 3b than this kid. Some of you guys are like KW you rather have a guy that can hit for power, can't run with questionable defense shit that's we have become this freaking bad in the first place! We need a team that can hit .265-.275 as a team that doesn't clog up the base paths, that can take some walks, play solid D and have some solid pitching. For this we need some youth like Morel, Ramirez, Beckham, Quentin and dare I say it....screw it yea I'll say it Rios! I think we hit into too many DP's, can't take extra bases and don't hit many 2b n 3b hits because of the lack of some real team speed. I love PK but we have too many lead feet on this team right now...

Couldn't agree more. And I think Morel has the talent to hit .300+, he's only a rookie, and he's already hitting over .260. Then maybe people would stop pointlessly hating on him, considering he's a major part of the team's future.

Great to see Brent stepping up at the plate. With his glove at 3rd, if he can become a .300 hitter he'd be a solid anchor at the corner.

Morel is a rookie and he will probably improve his power in the next few years, but his defense makes up for that. Just like Beckham's defense makes up for his bad hitting. He may not get a hit every game, but he takes away a hit every couple games. Defense is important.

That would be ideal, but I doubt we're going to find that and even if we do Greg Walker will ruin the guy's career and make him a terrible hitter.
