I simply botched reading your post. I saw 32 while skimming haha.

I have always said that it'd be great if the cardinals give him what he wants and i don't really care if he gets what he wants as long as its not with the Cubs.

What do you guys see Fielder getting? 5-years $100MM ish?

After I saw a 31 yr old Jason Werth get 126m which shocked the hell out of me. I truly have no idea what a much younger player with who in my opinion is better will get.

I know i hate these GMs setting outrageous bench marks by agreeing to :turrible: contracts.

 coming from the guy who wants pujols and that contract. too funny.

But if Jim hendry acquired Braun and gave him the same contract you would be creaming in your pants while looking at a photo of jim hendry. God you contradict yourself all the time.

Ummm... no, I dont want Pujols and that contract. I want Pujols, just not for anymore than 7 years.

No, I definitely wouldn't be creaming anything. It's a terrible contract no matter how you spin it. It would be nice that we got Braun and i would be pumped for that, but it's not hard to see that it's a bad contract.

what about that contract they gave to jose bautista up in Toronto, 5/$65.million dollars. After giving Vernon Wells a crazy contract and trading him,.... chicks dig the long ball, and teams will pay outrageous dough to the guys that can do it to keep the stands full. Good for Braun, IMO, hes set, now perfect that swing

Ya it is a crazy deal especially considering his HR explosion could turn out to be a freak season.

I personally don't think Pujols will get anything more than 6 years...the deciding factor will be the one team that wants to give him $27M per rather than the 12 teams that want to give him $22M per.

I don't get the hate of this deal from people. Ryan Braun took a VERY team friendly deal after his rookie season. 8 yrs, 45 million or something like that. The Brewers are pretty much rewarding him because he deserves much more imo.

Only 4 other people in MLB history have done what he has done so far in his career. 3 are HOF'ers and the other is Albert Pujols (.300 AVG, 125+ HR's in their first 4 MLB seasons)

He also deffered 18 million of his contract, so the Brewers can remain competitive.

Here is what he is/has made:

2008: 455 K
2009: 745 K
2010: 1 M
2011: 4 M
2012: 6 M
2013: 8.5 M
2014: 10 M
2015: 12 M
2016: 15 M
2017: 15 M
2018: 15 M
2019: 15 M
2020: 13 M

He gets paid 2 million each year from 2022 until 2031 or something like that.

So from 2012 until 2020 the Brewers owe Braun: 109.5 million.

It's not that bad of a deal imo.

He didn't take that friendly of a deal, he was a rookie so its not like he was going to make all that much money the first 5 years anyhow. So really he got the better end of the deal because had he gotten hurt, or lost his game, he would have had some insurance in the fact that he had a guaranteed contract.

Its not a bad deal per say I just don't get it. Seems really pointless to extend someone whose contract isn't coming up for another 4 or 5 years.
