I just think Jerry has BJ on speed-dial if Gar doesn't pan out.

BJ was not happy when Gar was named GM. He left the organization either that year or the year after to become an agent. That's not to say he couldn't eventually end up being the GM, but I think there's some fences that need mending before that happens.

watch Scalabrine become the head coach if Thibs don't get that extension :troll:

LOL

We go from having a coach that can't sit, to a coach that rarely stands.

Perhaps those fences are being mended as we speak? Or maybe they've already been mended. It's been what...7 years since Gar was named GM?

The real question is how would BJ do as a GM? Unfortunately, there's no real way to tell until he gets that position. Steve Kerr was an ok GM I guess. Paxson was alright. So I guess as far as Bulls guards from the 90s go, if he follows the trend he'll at least be mediocre.

I honestly feel that if Pax stepped down as VP of Bball Ops, you might see Gar taking more risks. Pax has been, & probably always will be, cautious with his moves & I get the feeling that he's holding Gar back a bit.

I don't think it matters who's gm because reinsdorff pushes the buttons when it comes to his puppets and pockets.

Things won't change until Jerry sells the team to new ownership.

Not an unrealistic assumption on my part.

I get that feeling too really. Pax has always come across as kind of conservative with his moves. He didn't really take any huge risks other than Ben Wallace and Tyrus Thomas (was he GM then...can't recall anymore) that I can remember. Gar has been a little more bold with his moves. In the end though I think it's JR that's holding them back the most. That's probably obvious though.

Pax was the GM, Gar was promoted from Scouting Exec to GM, Pax was promoted to VPOBO. =)

I thought about this last night right before I went to sleep. Then I realized i was contemplating this possibility in the dark, in my bed, had to stop.

Does anyone from the Chicago area who used to listen to Q101 mornings remember when Sherman and Tingle would play this song when someone said or did something questionably ***?

lol thanks. We kinda saw Gar coming up through the ranks at the time iirc so it's kid of hard to remember what exactly happened at what times. Only 3 years...seems like a lot longer. I'd say Gar has definitely been an upgrade over Pax then lol.

I like Gar. One thing that I run through my mind, and NOT to the defense of Vinny, but if Gar was the GM and Pax was out of the picture, I think the whole "tie" fight would never have happened. Hell, I think Vinny would have gotten a lot more help(or maybe not have been hired at all).

I agree. They did surround him with very experienced assistants though, I'll give them that.

Well guess the report is not true. He has decided that he will be a color commentator for Boston Celtic games instead. He said turning down the offer "Was the hardest decision I've ever made basketball wise"
