It's also okay when you are young and have a buddy who will go and play 36 holes a day with you for the the 3 summers following your father's passing. Teaches you patience, perspective, outlook, and the differences between optimism and pessimism, and confidence and fear. Smarmy and maudlin, I know, but true nonetheless.
