That pizza was good. Time to get drunk.

When we're getting our ass kicked Chelsea Dagger should NOT be played.
It shouldn't be playing at all. It sounds like the fans are dancing around and making drooling Special person noises.
I'm not too worried. Sometimes losses like this really kick shit in gear for both the players, coaches and management. Let's see how they respond in the next game, wouldn't be surprised if they come out flying.

I'd still like to see Stan working the phones to try and add another defensemen who can actually play on one of our pairings.

Will the real Blackhawks team please stand up? Also, I cannot believe Crawford's gaffe on Friday! All he did was dump in the puck? WTF? I am new to this thread, I was born and raised in Chicago. I have memories of listening to Hawks playoff games with a one bud earphone plugged into a tiny B&W TV. A lot of frustration back then with Finals against Canadiens (Ken Dryden), and the x%$##** Bruins, back when Phil Esposito was their power guy and his brother Tony was our goalie!
That really sucked, especially Game 7s.
Petry is a fucking pylon. No thanks on Gleason either, who looks about as slow and useless as Rozsival most nights. He's a -18, which is the worst on Carolina. Same story with Salvador. At 39, he's done. Leopold would be an upgrade over any of the 3 assholes playing the 5/6 most nights, as would Fraser and Sekera. I'm not sure they are going to be worth what they are going to demand though...
This team isn't contending with the bottom six performing at their current level anyways. They are pretty much all fucking useless. At this point, I'd be fine if they got rid of 2/3 of them after this season. Carcillo with 8 points, Smith with 9 points, Kruger with 13 points, Shaw with 15, Bickell with 24. This is the worst forward depth the Hawks have had in years. They're also the least physical group. It's pretty much 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 bad as far as production is concerned. The Hawks might have one forward in the bottom six that puts up more than 20 points this season... They have been fucking pathetic. When Marian Hossa is the THIRD leading hitter on your team, you have some fucking problems.
I don't think it makes sense moving anything significant for a 5/6 this season. I don't think that's going to be the difference between this team being a favorite for the cup or just a contender.
It's the same depth, except every one of those players has regressed in all aspects of their game. They're all basically producing at Brandon Bollig levels. That ain't gonna fucking cut it.
The bottom six is too slow to establish an aggressive forecheck and play dump and chase, and too small to grind the other team down, establish possession in the offensive zone, or inflict some pain on the opposing defense with finished checks. They all play a soft, defensive, sit back and pokecheck game. This team is two lines deep.
I have to agree with you on several levels. All the talking heads on keep raving about the Hawk's depth, blah, blah, blah. Then as soon as the Kings or anyone else runs off a few wins suddenly they are going to revving up for "a run at the playoffs." The Preds, however, are a bit scary. Renne is lights out in goal. We'll have to see if come playoff time, they are for real. Hawks seem to have their number this year, but.....
I didn't see this game (recorded it, not going to bother), but I've watched every game since Christmas. It seems the entire team, including our skilled players, are making huge mental mistakes. I believe the loss of Clint Reif right before Christmas may be causing a huge mental breakdown with our team. Clint died on December 21st. The day Clint's death was announced, the team played with a fire we haven't seen since. The 4-0 ass-kicking of Toronto was outstanding. Then December 23rd, two days later (for it all to settle in), the Hawks get *****-slapped by Winnipeg 5-1. Awful game. Since December 21st, the team is 13-11-3, including the two aforementioned games.
Let's face it, we're talking about young guys. Many (most) of the guys on this team are under 25 years old. Many likely have never had someone so close to them commit suicide so suddenly, leaving behind their family. I'm not saying these guys are totally losing it, but I think this is mentally affecting them in a way that's making them mentally exhausted. I think it can explain the mental mistakes and lack of focus.
I'm only afraid if this is the case, it will continue to snowball unless something drastic changes it's course. Otherwise we may have to accept this season as a loss, and we'll have to pick up the pieces next year when the roster gets reshuffled.
I think you're reaching quite a bit...
