I'm talking about this upcoming offseason. And I know I can't do anything about that but the thing is, the Hawks probably can't either. It'd be great if they could move him this offseason, but I highly doubt it. I know you don't like talking about the salary cap, but the reality is that it's a huge part of the NHL. And how you manage it is extremely important. Just because Bickell would've been given that type of money (or even more) by other teams a few years back doesn't make it a smart signing.

No I am okay with talking about the cap just as long as a players contract isn't overlly used to base a judgment on a player. I used to do that myself and I realized how unfair it was most of the time. I have never liked that player salaries are exposed to the fan base and still don't think they should be as they skew opinion of certain players unfairly. I just dont fully understand the fine prints of the cap sometimes either (im not an accountant). The day that Brian Campbell was traded was the day I stopped thinking about the impossible though. True story. I know trading Bickells contract will be difficult if they do need to or want to move it but the Brian Campbell statute gives me optomistic outlooks that any deal could happen at any time. Not just with Florida either lol.

Yeah I was going to say hopefully Dale has room for one more. Maybe they can find a dumb GM that still thinks he's worth that kind of cap space but I don't see it happening. Campbell was at least valuable, a really good D-man still, just overpaid. Bickell.....****. Hopefully he breaks the fucking playoff goal record or something because that's the sort of thing that the Hawks will need to sell him to some poor bastard.

hahahaha there are a lot of dumb GMs out there. Oilers, Leafs, and Pens come straight to mind. All 3 will make a play for Bickell I am sure lol.

Yeah cause once they trade Bickell not like they don't have McNeil, Ross, and Hartman ready to compete for time next year.

I've never gotten the idea by many that Bickell will be some struggle to move player in the offseason. Doesn't make sense to me when you look at deals of players signed last offseason and who still has commanded trades. Guys like Briere at his age because of a history of playoff success got a 4Mil deal and Chris Stewart who only shows up after deadlines got that type of deal and gets sought after in trades. It looks like they'll be several teams this year who think they need some extra force and playoff presence to get over a hump they're in. Just like teams like Colorado or Anaheim were last year.

Whether he gets moved or not the point is that the Hawks can't dish out that kind of money/cap space for a player like Bickell anymore.

If Bickell was getting 50 points a season and played the way he did in that last cup run during the season it would have been a good signing. You are basing your never ending bad signing rant on Stan using hindsight. Which I'm sure every GM in all sports wish they had (maybe get a clause to cut the amount of a salary due to under performance, Players union would surely go for that). It would actually end all bad contracts if GMs had your hindsight or a capability to see into the future.

Ross (6' 180) and Hartman (5'11 180)...have relatively zero NHL experience are closer to Shaw

McNeill hasn't even been able to get a call up, and while he may be servicable, it will be a lot for a rookie thats still not Bickell's size to bring a physical presence

While he is frustrating...he should really be a 20g/20a scorer at best. And he has 200 hits this year which do more damage than any other forward they have on the roster, or in the system. They don't have a 6'4 220lb forward in their system to replace him right now.

Most big players are/look frustrating at times.

Look at Lucic. Makes 6mil a year. Has 18g this year. Hit 30g 1 time in his career and avg .25gpg in his career. Bickell averages .18gpg

Playoff time...Lucic has 26 in 96gms (at .27gpg...just @ his average) where as Bickell has 20g in 57gms - or .35gpg

Lucic spends way more time in the box

I don't know how any player (that isn't 88,19,81) can hit 50 points the way Q juggles his lines, which still made me ponder how Richards wasn't breaking the top 2 lines earlier in the season.
This isn't to defend 29, but even Sharp was playing 4th line shifts this season.

But he's NEVER played that way through the regular season. Never. Why would you all of sudden expect that to change? It wasn't hard to see what Bickell was. There was plenty of discussion about it at the time he was up for re-signing, it's not like we found out about him afterwards. We knew what he was. We knew exactly what got him his money. And more often than not, those are always foolish contracts to hand out, because they come back to bite you.

Yeah but Stan also gave Bickell a partial NMC as well. Meaning that at least some of those bad teams that miss the playoffs, he's probably not agreed to be traded to.

Glad you bumped this thread, because Bryan Bickell is a worthless fucking scrub. A terrible excuse for a hockey player. He's a scrub, a bender, a fucking duster, through and through. The next good play he makes will be the first he's made all fucking season. No hands. Horrible skater. Horrible anticipation. Dumb as a box of fucking rocks, and one of the softest 230+ lb. assholes in the NHL when he has the puck.

**** Bickell and **** Stan for this abortion of a contract. I don't know how you can trade him after this season. Negative value.

Like trev said in the gdt. Shaw is working his ass off tonight and should be rewarded with the line bump. Bickel can spend time on the 4th.

**** it, put him in the press box and dress Nordstrom. Or Hartman. Sick of Bickell's ineptitude ... he's supposed to be a playoff producer.

You just don't like him because he's not a ballerina. You know their gonna need him when they face the Rangers. Quit being so daft.
