There is no league conspiracy...if there was...Chris Paul would have been there instead of Nash. THAT would have been really scary. The league stopped that from happening. So if Kobe passes Jordan in rings, its because he earned it. I don't buy into those types of conspiracies...no reason to watch if you do.

The league is much stronger than it was in 1996 and the grind will be harder on a core that has a lot of mileage on it. Remember, Jordan took damn near 2 seasons off. Don't see that happening at all.

Not only is the league stronger than '96, the rules are much different. During the 90's, physically tough defensive teams could dominate like nothing today. The implementation of the hand check rule & zone defenses has changed the landscape of the league, & not necessarily in a good way.

LOL at the league being stronger with defense being legislated out of the game completely. How it is stronger when you have about 15 franchise level players divided up between only a few teams?

The 72-10 Bulls record will never be broken. Regardless of the kind of team each NBA team puts together. To break that record, that would require losing no more then 9 of 82 games during the regular season. Until i'm proven wrong, I say impossible.

How is the league tougher now than in the mid 90s?

Because you don't have terrible teams like the New York Knicks making the NBA Finals? And you don't have pretty good teams like the Houston Rockets winning back-to-back?

What was the difference between the Knicks in 94 and the Mavs that won in 11? Both had one star and a bunch of depth

I don't see those players pushing to put it all on the line game in and out of the regular season. Especially at the age of Nash and Kobe.

You have teams now of days that I honestly believe don't care to break that record. If someone ever goes 73-9 during the regular season, good for them. I don't see that happening though.

Don't forget that Kobe's first 3 rings was Shaq's rings. The same will happen now. His last 2 rings will be Howard's rings. Howard made the finals some years ago on his own. He only needed one good sidekick to win it. Now he has 3. And one of them is Kobe the best scorer in the league, and one of them the best passer in the league..

I doubt that record will be broken. Coaches prefer to rest their players nowadays than go for a record during regular season.

I don't think that record ever falls. That team was just too good even on a bad night.

I don't see any team breaking this record just because it isn't necessary in anyway to win the ring. I mean really the regular season is pointless for the top teams they coast, take multiple games off ect. One can even argue that playing full speed in the regular season hurts your playoff chances.
