So fans can always have a reminder of the 1 guy who wouldn’t play when medically cleared. The 1 guy who wouldn’t recruit alphas and the 1 guy who when played with an alpha(Jimmy), childishly deferred to the alpha rather than learn to play as a sidekick.

It’s about damn time!

I wonder if Reinsdork will schedule this jersey retirement for the 2025-26 season versus whoever they host that they had the worst attendance for in the 2024-2025 season? Boost the bottom line vs a typically weak drawing opponent. Never miss the opportunity to cash in!

I'm actually kinda surprised as the Bulls have been very selective about this. I wonder if this means Noah and potentially Deng will be retired also.

Why? D Rose was probably the reason I quit following the bulls.

He actually didn’t defer to jimmy. If I remember correctly, that one game winner against the Cavs in the playoffs when he banked in a 3, was supposed to be a play for jimmy but rose said **** that…could be imagining it though

Haven't found anything that says that play was for Jimmy. The play itself was just Rose getting the inbounds directly from Dunleavy then Taj sets him a drag screen and he pulls up. Could be he drew up his own play in the huddle like Lebron supposedly does, but again couldn't find any proof of that

I could have sworn I remember either hearing or reading about it, but I can’t find anything either. Maybe I’m just imagining things 🤷‍♂️

I remember the play, I just don’t remember if that was meant for anyone else. Though there was a diff playoff game where he clearly kept deferring. It was a horrible look.

Retiring numbers is the height of stupidity.

Do you enjoy anything in life?
Yeah, now that I don’t have hope for a shitty basketball team, I don’t follow them, so I have more time to do constructive things. I wish I could do something about the hope for our shitty football team though, I don’t think that will ever go away.

I will say…rose sitting out when he was medically cleared was a bad look….especially against the heat in the playoffs. He may never say so publicly, but he might always regret that.

That said, I don’t really recall him ever deferring to Jimmy….but by the time Jimmy was Jimmy…rose was a shell of his former self…so if he did defer to him at times, that might not be the worst thing. Pre injury, rose was an absolute assassin and savage who players absolutely feared. He brought bulls basketball completely back to life and was legit as they come especially for his age. I can’t imagine bulls basketball ever getting close to that again. Partly because the NBA sucks now, but also because I doubt the bulls ever luck into a talent like that or become relevant again.

Then do yourself a favor and ignore all sports from this city. Free yourself from this pain, go do something else with your time

If you want the bulls to be good, all bulls fans should quit giving them money. Then Reinsdorf will have to put together a good basketball team or sell it. Right now, it plays second fiddle to his shitty White Sox.

Chicago sucks at everything because the fans are so diehard. There’s no incentive to be good. You can be proud of being a die hard if you want, but you probably won’t ever be proud of your basketball teams performance unless the ownership is actually incentivized to be good.

Are you under the impression that professional sports franchises make all of their money through ticket and concession sales?

No. They make all of their money from fans though. Revenue sharing raises the bottom line, but if every fan said **** Reinsdorf, I’m done giving him my money, he would be forced to act.

The NBA has a $80 billion television deal. Revenue sharing as you've said. There's no shortage of advertisers. Not to mention the NBA has very carefully worked their way into international markets such as India and China, and they already have the Emirates Cup so it won't be long until they get major coin from the Middle East.

But, you're right: it's definitely going to be alswank87 and the rest of his compadres not showing up to games that'll really force Reinsdorf to act.
