Per hoopsworld:Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls are continuing their weeks-long pursuit of Fernandez, and do have a first round pick to offer. The Bulls were rumored to be offering James Johnson and a pick back in August, but nothing ever came...

Wonder if this rumor is ever going to die. Probably not though. I still hope we end up with Rudy as it will make me feel better about the SG position, but oh well if we dont.

Rudy would be a good edition......as long as this pre-madonna "i wanna go home" syndrome ends. His agent keeps trying to say he doesn't wanna play in the NBA anymore.

If the Bulls get him, cool, but if they don't, oh well. That's how I see it.

RIGHT NOW rudy is a 6th man, and i dont care if we get him. he's sucked in the worlds, he sucked last year, and unless his play is significantly better, he'll suck while whining over here.

i'm more excited about what ronnie brewer has to offer. at least he can play defense.

I would hope that his "I don't like the NBA anymore, I wanna go back to Europe" attitude dies if he came here. If that happened, welcome aboard Rudy. If it didn't, Rudy can stay in Portland...

i may have been too hard on him.

i think that's my main gripe about rudy. however, i suppose i understand his point of view. he got fucked over by portland. c'est la vie. The only issue is, how many minutes can we possibly give him? we have brewer, watson, and korver. Korver is bound to see minutes at the back 3. he's an amazing shooter, but a terrible defender. watson is our only back up pg. he's okay at hitting the 3, but he's not great. he can distribute, but he's not amazing at that either. also watson can't defend the 2 with a lot of success. Rudy was a great shooter, but now he's okay. he shoots around 36%? his defense sucks and his distributing skills aren't amazing either. he makes bg look like an all defensive player, and he's a skinny mofo. i think he's 6'6 180.

rudy is 24/25? if he can improve, he'd be a great fit and i'd love for him to come aboard. Also we're giving up next to nothing with jj and a draft pick. If he comes, i'll be hooting and hollering, but if he doesn't meh. At the very least, we wont have to worry if bogans will be a decent backup 2.

If we are really offering a 1st for him and not just james johnson they will do it before training camp. If they don't they are just gonna lose him for nothing and have him be a distraction all year. They should have traded him his rookie year when he had value.

Word out of Portland is that closure on the long running Rudy Fernandez situation may be coming to an end in the coming days.

The Blazers and Rudy have been at odds over his future in Portland and sources close to the situation say that Blazers' GM Rich Cho has a couple of offers on the table and that he could trigger a deal before camp opens in 12 days.

The New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls are believed to be the most vocal suitors for Fernandez with the Bulls offering a package centered on James Johnson and possible a second-round draft pick.
The Bulls have more than enough cap space remaining to simply absorb Fernandez for draft picks and a Traded Player exception, but Chicago is unwilling to part with a first-round pick for Rudy.

The New York Knicks have very little to offer Portland in terms of players or first-round draft picks, but there was talk New York could make a deal involving second-round draft selections to nab Fernandez.

The Knicks have virtually no cap space to absorb Fernandez outright, so including Bill Walker and his $854,000 contract seems like the only way a deal to New York gets done.
The Blazers have 15 players on guaranteed contracts and have a Qualifying Offer out to Patrick Mills making him a 16th deal. The Blazers are sitting about $600,000 over the Luxury tax line so trading Fernandez for simply a draft pick solves two problems for the Blazers. It rids them of Rudy and his guaranteed $1.24 million salary and it would return a Traded Player Exception and drop the team under the tax line. The Blazers have been holding out for a first-round draft pick for Fernandez and that does not look like it's going to happen. Cho and company do not want the distraction that Rudy could be, in training camp, so a deal to move him could drop this week.

honestly that's kinda stupid. why won't we part with the 25+ overall pick in the draft for a proven shooting guard

I don't want Rudy anymore. He just wants to go back to Europe.

Unless he has some kind of press release saying what he wants in an NBA team, he can kiss my asssssss!!!!!!!!!!
