And came back way before everyone thought and looks ok. There's still hope?

What am I kidding? No one wants to believe in hope.

I think Westrbook actually came back later than originally thought. When he first got hurt, people were talking about how he could come back if OKC made it deep in the playoffs... then they ruled him out but said he should be back for pre-season. Then he missed all of pre-season and the first few games of the regular season. He had a set-back somewhere along the line though.

When CP3 tore his meniscus, he missed close to two months... but he wasn't the same for a while after that.

I'd guess Rose will be back this season... but man...

I beat the OP by a few minutes in the other thread, but here are the tweets from there :p:

K.C. Johnson ‏@KCJHoop 3m
Per sources, Derrick Rose tore his right meniscus and will need surgery.
K.C. Johnson ‏@KCJHoop 1m
DRose will undergo surgery in the near future. Until that is completed, it's known if he will miss season or not.

Bulls make it official. Release says medial meniscus tear and indefinite absence. Source said he's returning to Chicago for surgery.

What we need to find out about, is the severity of the tear. If it's a full tear or a small tear (same thing as a sprain).

Keep in mind that CP3 had a MCL tear years ago. It took him 2 years to fully recover his superstar skill-set. D-Rose will not only be coming back from a torn MCL to the right knee, but he's still trying to come back from a torn ACL in his left knee.

The plan should still be...........Blow it up & tank.

On a personal note, one of my sons tore his MCL, had surgery in May, & finished rehab in September.

D. Rose

Lebron is one Paul George injury away from his 3rd consecutive NBA finals. Two years ago was DRose and Howard, last year was DRose and Granger, this year DRose already. I hope the pacers will stay healthy this year. I hate it when there is no competition.

Could of been worse, so there is hope.

The rest of the players will just have to step up and carry the team in Roses absence.

This team without Rose is still capable of staying above 500, but sometime during the season, a move will have to be made to address our scoring woes.

Ben Gordon may be bought out and could potentially sign with Bulls for league minimum.

Better than nothing......No risk signing.

If they can repair meniscus, as doctors were able to do w/ @russwest44, Rose could return this season. If they have to shave, it's worse.

It depends. Blow up this team for a player like Durant or Davis? Then yes. But if they can't get a franchise player better than Rose, then there is no reason.

It's another season wasted. The clock is ticking. This energetic, young team isn't so young or energetic anymore....Boozer, Hinrich and Dunleavy in their 30s with Noah, Deng and Gibson getting close and now the team's big star will be playing on two busted up and repaired knees. The caption on the pic above says it all.

From what I read, he intends to have meniscus re-attached which means longer down time than if he just had it clipped. He's probably done for the season. Despite a weak bench and lack of scoring, the Bulls might still make the first round of the playoffs. By the time Rose gets done rehabbing the knee, I suspect the season will be over for the Bulls. He will still have to work on his conditioning once his knee heals up and the strength returns too. So yeah, he's pretty much done anyway you look at it.

Before anybody questions my credibility, I have torn meniscus in my knee, so I know what he's going to go through. It is intensely painful, obviously. It took about 4 months of not doing anything athletically before I could even start therapy. Therapy was about a month before I had any confidence and could run on it again. It still hurts sometimes, and that was four years ago.

This is not negative, it's just reality something some of you guys have a hard time dealing with from what I gather. Try to think of it as a an opportunity for change in the positive direction though. We all know this team needed change, and now it is inevitable. A lot of good could come out of this.

I hear it is more painful then A Ligament tear, not sure where you are getting the news about having it reattached, a Dr. on the score said most NBA players have it cut out. it is Cartilage damage . way better then ACL

The obvious positive here is that it wasn't another ACL tear. But knowing Rose he will be out double the time as average. I wish Rose the best but have no patience with injury prone players.

If you get your meniscus taken out, the recovery time is shorter, but you put yourself at risk for more knee problems in the future... like Dwyane Wade.

Or you can get it repaired and be out longer... but the risk for other problems is lower.

fourth he's made it three years in a row already. And no one is stopping him this year. The path is being cleared again for him.

Good post.

Unfortunately, there will always be some keyboard warriors declaring the need for Rose to return ASAP in order to chase a mythical championship this season. The truth is that we're not winning a championship this season behind a left knee rehabbing, right knee rehabbing D-Rose. Hell, we weren't likely to beat Miami this season even if Rose was never injured.

It's time to tank this season, get rid of Deng/others, & hope for a stud lottery pick and/or legit star scorer. As much as I love Rose, I don't trust that he's capable of carrying us to a title. It's gone beyond him needing help. It's to the point that he may need to be someone else's help.

Rose could opt for clipping the torn meniscus and be back in a few months. Doing this jeopardizes his longterm health and makes him a candidate for knee replacement somewhere down the line.

You're just the board contrarian, always ready to argue with everybody but seldom make logical arguments about anything you post... what's scary is you think you know more than everybody about everything... case in point the nonsense you posted above. Go play in traffic.

Everything I have said about the Bulls has come to pass, so I guess that makes me right and you wrong. Question that if you dare.

You are obviously from another planet....most of what you say is stupid meatball garbage that I would expect to hear from a drunk. But here is the point....take notice basketball Special person...

Rose has been cutting and slashing to the basket before he went to Simeon! That is his style of play. How is it that the VP and GM are all of a sudden responsible for his ligament and cartilage damage? Your whole idea was stupid. Now what is really sad is you think you are right....lol. John Paxson is to blame for Rose's injuries? Dude, you are looney. And I don't know of much you've said that makes sense, let alone has "come to pass"...give me a break.
