Just saw it on twitter. John Paxson will remain with the Bulls as Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.

I guess Paxson owes an apology to Vescey and Hanley? I don't think he needs to apologize to Aldridge though, since the health issues thing seemed to just be BS.

They were saying he was going to quit his job while the only thing that has changed is Gar will take phone calls and hand free agent signings. I guess this change actually happened last year

Why does he owe them an apology? His job title hasn't changed. Gar Foreman was negotiating with Deng/Gordon last year, so how is this a large change. If anything it seems like a promotion for Gar.

Didn't JR say that Paxson would have final say on all basketball decisions? I remember reading that somewhere. So if Pax really wants him, I think it's possible BG could be back.

Yeah, but it will end up Paxson making a basketball decision, and then JR making the money decision restricting the basketball decision, and all of a sudden Gordon is knocking us out of the playoffs along with Dwyane Wade and B-Easy.

Andre Miller has interest in signing with the Heat if the 76ers don't keep him, an associate told the Miami Herald.

Miami won't have cap space to offer him anything more than the mid-level exception, so a sign-and-trade deal would almost certainly need to be agreed upon.

Gordon to Heat doesn't seem so likely after all

Looks like Pistons might be go after someone else beside Gordon

Detroit could be interested in Utah's trio of big men who may become free agents this summer.

Carlos Boozer, Mehmet Okur and Paul Millsap would be players the Pistons would like to look at with their $20 million of cap space.

Andre Miller isn't getting more than the MLE.

I'm sure the Heat would love to have Andre Miller. But if Ben Gordon is sitting there saying he will sign for the MLE, they're signing him, not Andre Miller.

I think there is no chance Gordon signs for MLE. He wants his money and long term security.

He played on a less than $7 million salary this year. Its time for him to get rewarded handsomely.

I agree. But if the Pistons decide to sit on their capspace until next year, and the Bulls lowball him with say $8 million a year, I don't think he will really have a choice, except to play on the MLE, because he won't be coming back to the Bulls on a lowball offer.

I think a 3 year MLE, with a promise from the team he signs with for more money when they acquire his bird rights would be better than a lowball offer from the Bulls.

I don't know, by the time the MLE contract is up he will be 29. Which is still in his prime years, but I'm sure he would rather have more years on a higher salary for a longer period of time, than low salary for half the time period.

I think in that situation he would take the lowball offer from the Bulls.

How is that lowball offer? If they gave him that offer they would basically be paying him 16 million for this year. I don't think people realize that you could probably give this guy offer at 9 million, but his 2009 salary would have to be low

The new titles (for Gar Forman) reflect a shift that had already taken place over the past year, with Forman assuming more day-to-day responsibilities. That included the lead role in contract negotiations with Luol Deng and Ben Gordon and input in the coaching search last summer.- Associated Press

If this is true, and he took the lead in those negotitions, then so far, this he's already been a disaster. Reinsdorf probably deserves most of the blame, but if I ever find out that Gar Forman was the jerk responsible for pulling that Gordon contract off the table when Ben wanted to sign (with per year average less than Hinrich and Deng), then he's going to have to do an awful lot to impress me. If he's primarily responsible to signing Deng to that overpriced contract, then that's mistake #2. And if his "input" was "hire Vinny", then we're in big trouble.

Its lowball compared to Hinrich and Deng, and Ben Wallace, while Gordon was the most productive player all these years.

I don't think anything has changed, these are the same 3 guys making the calls as it was earlier. Pax just isn't the public leader anymore. We all know that JR, Pax and Gar have almost all the input and I doubt anything has changed other than giving Gar some of the public credit.

Really Fred? You think that Gar walked up, didn't ask anyone else and started making these choices himself? You don't remember Pax and JR interviewing coaches or JR talking to our rfas either. He is a contributor but he doesn't have more pull than JR or Pax.
