I don't want to hear any homer for a whole season. I have to laugh at one dude bringing up ESPN. Plenty of Bulls fans have had problems with the local announcing crew. I don't mind them, just don't want to listen to any local crew over and over.

That said, its incredibly silly to think the Bulls announcing team's obvious jaded view is so much more accurate than a TNT or ESPN/ABC team. I like Stacey King, but Doug Collins was on another level when he did games, not many could touch him.

Just because national guys don't kiss the Bulls ass doesn't mean they are bad at their jobs. If anything, against Miami, Miller and Kerr were biased against Miami.

As far as Aikman...I always liked the CBS announcing teams more, matter of fact, I like CBS' presentation more. I think Buck/Aikman are probably a better 2nd team...Madden/Summerall they are not. I also didn't understand why the Cowboys got so many games with Buck/Aikman...they were not a prime time team last year. It was rather annoying, you are right about that.

no one said locals were better, they just prefer hearing them because local guys say what we want to hear, good things about the bulls. Bulls fans dont want to hear why they suck, and ESPN does hype the more popular team, however in alot of cases next year that may be the bulls. Saying VG is annoying to him isnt saying hes bad, just saying that he finds VG annoying. Your making an argument that isnt there.

TNT is the most unbiased crew

Exactly. I think Van Gundy is annoying because he was always picking arguments with Mark Jackson. Every time Mark Jackson said something he didn't agree with, he would have some sarcastic retort. Van Gundy just always thinks he is right. To me, that's what makes Van Gundy annoying.

I can listen to them for half of the season, but I like to hear a broader perspective. Neil and Stacey are homers. As was Dore and Kerr before them. My thing is to hear different points of views on the teams. I guess that is why I enjoy the NFL, you get 4,5,6+ broadcast teams on television when watching the games. Just makes it more interesting...but that is just me...I was like that during the Jordan era too...

I agree. But I'll take homers behind the mic any day over listening to the likes of Jeff Van Gundy and Reggie Miller.

Well, when I'm watching the Bulls, I want to hear the Bulls announce team. I don't need a broader perspective because I don't care. I like my homer announcers. Guys like JVG piss me off because he still has an axe to grind against the Bulls and it comes out in his announcing, never mind the fact that he's a ****** on top of it. And if one thinks the Bulls announcers are homers, listen to a Celtics broadcast, then get back to me.

At least Stacey gives the other team props and calls out the Bulls when they screw up. All ESPN does is talk about lebron, even when he isn't in the game. It's as bad as listen to Bill Walton cheerlead for the Lakers in the early 2000's.

So give me my home announcers. You can keep ESPN and Kevin Harlan who jizzes his Vicky's over simple jumpshots trying to out-Marv, Marv Albert.

And since when has being a fan become so demonized?

I'm tired of people using words like homer to describe people that are being fans of a team. We are on a Bulls fan site, last I checked. I grew up a Bulls fan, not an NBA fan, but a Bulls fan. I am a Bulls fan first, player fan second, basketball fan third and an NBA fan last. I know the history of the NBA and I appreciate it. I know the historic players, moments and teams.

None of that takes precedence over me being a Bulls fan.

I'm going to ALWAYS be a Bulls fan first. That will never change, and to me, there is nothing wrong with that. I guess with that advent of the internet, we got these armchair GM's and armchair commissioners and all they do is spout off how right they are and berate fans for being homers. Being a fan automatically means you're biased. As I said before, the word fan is short for FANATIC. Go look that word up.

Being a fan is not a bad thing. What I'm saying is, if you want to have a non fan oriented conversation, go to the armchair GM forums. Don't down people for being fans.

I don't like the talking heads at ESPN either. But guys like Neil Funk and Stacey King would scoff at the suggestion that Scottie Pippen was anywhere near the player that Hakeem Olajuwon was.

Guys like Houheffna, Firsttimer, and myself (who all get into arguments amongst each other) probably aren't going to read that and sit idly by quietly. I personally try not to be insulting in the way I go about it.

Very happy the schedules out. The one bright spot since the lockout begun. Though its just one more way for Stern to keep us sitting in the proverbial waiting room with bad elevator music playing hoping to hear them call out "the lockout is over!"

Anyway, glad the schedule is out regardless.

I don't think anyone would disagree that Funk and King are homers. That's fine, it works in the Chicago market. Yet some local broadcast teams are not. Hawk Harrelson is a definite homer...I enjoy him a lot, but sometimes, I don't mind hearing FOX or ESPN to get their opinions on the players.

Being a fan means you are enthusiastic about a team, player, entertainer...whatever. It doesn't mean you have to have a jaded point of view of your team relative to the league. When I was younger, I was like that. I hated John Starks...hated Isiah, hated Miller...and now, I dislike Wade and Lebron, cheered on their defeat...but I know how good those players are. I am a fan, they are the Chicago Bulls, not the X-Men. They are not my heroes, not even role models...they are basketball players that I enjoy watching and rooting for. Same with the Bears and White Sox.

I also play in fantasy leagues for all three sports...that might have a lot to do with how I look at the league. I ordered NBA league pass last year. I watched a lot of games. So when I say Rondo is a good player, or Kobe is declining, I am not always being adversarial...I just happen to watch those players semi-regularly.

And no, I don't have to go to another forum to voice my opinions. I did the same thing on Bullspodcasters...to the chagrin of many, but I didn't change and I am not changing now. I was welcomed by Rush and others when I first signed in to this forum. So as to my needing to leave...thanks but no thanks...I will stay until I am ready to go.

Exactly. As a Bulls fan, I hate Wade and Lebron's guts (and Bosh's too). But I will not deny the talent of those players and say they're terrible or anything (except perhaps in a moment of rage when we're losing to them xD). What if you were a Knicks fan in the 90s? What did you think of Jordan? No one could say that Jordan sucked because it would simply be ridiculous to say that, so they had to admit to his greatness while also rooting against him. Same situation here. Now saying something like Rondo can't shoot for crap...that's another story. ;)

That's the thing...New Yorkers LOVED Jordan. And you would most likely say that about Rondo if he was a Bull...because its true.

Ok I had two bad examples there, but you get my point.

There's a difference between saying Rondo is a bad player and Rondo can't shoot. One is true one isn't.

Well hou just thinks he's right and knows more than everyone else because joined a lot of forums and follows all these writers on twitter. All that tells me is he has no opinion of his own and repeats whatever they say.

I know you try not to be insulting, he doesn't and never has. I saw that before I ever posted here and how he dealt with people who disagreed with him. He didn't respect other people's opinions.

Now all I'm saying is that it's not wrong for Scottie to have gotten the MVP given the situation I laid out in another post that I won't repeat here.
