Stacey and Funk make me lol - I'll keep 'em.
And Hou, you ever heard Aikman call a Cowboys game? ugh.

I can listen to them for half of the season, but I like to hear a broader perspective. Neil and Stacey are homers. As was Dore and Kerr before them. My thing is to hear different points of views on the teams. I guess that is why I enjoy the NFL, you get 4,5,6+ broadcast teams on television when watching the games. Just makes it more interesting...but that is just me...I was like that during the Jordan era too...
This.I agree. But I'll take homers behind the mic any day over listening to the likes of Jeff Van Gundy and Reggie Miller.
And since when has being a fan become so demonized?
I'm tired of people using words like homer to describe people that are being fans of a team. We are on a Bulls fan site, last I checked. I grew up a Bulls fan, not an NBA fan, but a Bulls fan. I am a Bulls fan first, player fan second, basketball fan third and an NBA fan last. I know the history of the NBA and I appreciate it. I know the historic players, moments and teams.
None of that takes precedence over me being a Bulls fan.
I'm going to ALWAYS be a Bulls fan first. That will never change, and to me, there is nothing wrong with that. I guess with that advent of the internet, we got these armchair GM's and armchair commissioners and all they do is spout off how right they are and berate fans for being homers. Being a fan automatically means you're biased. As I said before, the word fan is short for FANATIC. Go look that word up.
Being a fan is not a bad thing. What I'm saying is, if you want to have a non fan oriented conversation, go to the armchair GM forums. Don't down people for being fans.
Exactly. As a Bulls fan, I hate Wade and Lebron's guts (and Bosh's too). But I will not deny the talent of those players and say they're terrible or anything (except perhaps in a moment of rage when we're losing to them xD). What if you were a Knicks fan in the 90s? What did you think of Jordan? No one could say that Jordan sucked because it would simply be ridiculous to say that, so they had to admit to his greatness while also rooting against him. Same situation here. Now saying something like Rondo can't shoot for crap...that's another story.Being a fan means you are enthusiastic about a team, player, entertainer...whatever. It doesn't mean you have to have a jaded point of view of your team relative to the league. When I was younger, I was like that. I hated John Starks...hated Isiah, hated Miller...and now, I dislike Wade and Lebron, cheered on their defeat...but I know how good those players are. I am a fan, they are the Chicago Bulls, not the X-Men. They are not my heroes, not even role models...they are basketball players that I enjoy watching and rooting for. Same with the Bears and White Sox.

Ok I had two bad examples there, but you get my point. That's the thing...New Yorkers LOVED Jordan. And you would most likely say that about Rondo if he was a Bull...because its true.
Well hou just thinks he's right and knows more than everyone else because joined a lot of forums and follows all these writers on twitter. All that tells me is he has no opinion of his own and repeats whatever they say.I don't like the talking heads at ESPN either. But guys like Neil Funk and Stacey King would scoff at the suggestion that Scottie Pippen was anywhere near the player that Hakeem Olajuwon was.
Guys like Houheffna, Firsttimer, and myself (who all get into arguments amongst each other) probably aren't going to read that and sit idly by quietly. I personally try not to be insulting in the way I go about it.
Funk can be a moron sometimes. Messing up players on the court, giving wrong stats, etc.I love Stacey, but Funk is our version of Tommy Heihnsohn.
