Does anyone else think we will be able to trade Deng a lot easier if we sign James first?

Broussard just said it yesterday and I have to imagine they are still shopping him.

Dallas wants Lebron so it makes sense they wouldn't help us out like that.

Dallas my want Lebron but they are over the salary cap and only can get him in a S&T. And that is not happeing.

I honestly don't know. But why would u think it would be eaiser? Maybe teams might need a player like Deng to contend. IDK.

I think the point of the thread was less about whether it makes sense for Dallas and more about the fact that they still might be shopping him, which they should be.

I get the feeling they have something tentative worked out with someone but are looking for the best situation...at least I hope. Having LeBron and Deng is really overkill. Maybe LeBron at SG and Deng at SF would work? Id still rather unload the salary though.

Because the teams holding out for LeBron may settle for Deng once James is off the market. Ideally, Cleveland would take him but if they were willing to do a S&T, James Johnson is a guy I can see them taking and/or a future pick. It would be great if Cleveland took him though in a S&T for LeBron. Cleveland is in a weird position. Gilbert has been out in front to tell his fan base that its a legitimate franchise with or without LeBron but that doesnt exactly jive with tearing it down and rebuilding. So maybe theyd take Deng.

We'll youd be taking the best SF off the market so i think teams would be more interested but at the same time, if you do get James, IDK if a team wants be to be known as the team that took Deng so the Bulls can further improve and dominate.

IDK about CLE. If LeBron leaves, they are fkd if they dont receive a centerpiece in return. Dengs contract only gets worse. I think they will just wait for contracts to come off of the books and/or make smaller trades and start the rebuilding process.

Yeah that could make sense and we just have to wait and see. I'm a little confise, teams can talk to Lebon anywhere from July 1st-7th and he can sign on the 8th or something?

Alos teams will have cap space for Deng if the Heat and the Bulls 4-5 of the top players. Like the Nets,Knicks, Kings will have trouble filling out there roster.

What about this:

Orlando: Deng
Chicago: Dampier
Dallas: Pietrus, Gortat

Why would we do this? We'd be taking on an extra 2M for a backup big man.

I don't know if I want the Bulls to get Dampier because they are adding to there cap this year but he is an expiring contract after they year. But with that not incosiderstion, I would rather have Pietris and Gortat over Dampier.

Dampier's contract can be declined on July 8th. He wouldnt be on the roster and his contract wouldnt count against us once the signing period begins.

Last year Dallas went after Gortat when he was a RFA. So, there's some appeal there.

There's still teams you could work out deals with. I mentioned GS last night. Finding a team to dump him on is tough but if we could find a team thats under the cap, it would be nice to get a solid player back and cut at least half of the contract. But then youre stuck wondering if youd find a capable SG if you used all of the money to sign two maxs
