Rumor isn't exactly picking up steam. Maybe tomorrow.

I stand by my earlier statements about the situation that things are unlikely to develop since teams are unlikely to give up much at this point in the year. I could definitely see Byrd moving closer to the deadline though. The rumor says 2 NL teams are interested. I am guessing that one is the Nationals, but I am curious who the other one might be. The Braves were supposedly interested in Byrd last year. Either way I doubt much happens prior to opening day despite Jed Hoyer's comments about not being surprised a move happening.

At this point a trade involving Cubs center fielder Marlon Byrd is unlikely. The 34-year-old has been drawing some interest this spring, but a trade in July seems more realistic.

That's the smart money approach. The "surprise" trade possibility is still there.

A trade is unlikely at this point, and I would be surprised if Byrd wasn't the opening day starter in center. But if some team wants to offer something good for Byrd now I am sure Theo and Jed would jump on it.

Heard from where if you don't mind me asking? I could buy that just curious what the source was.

I might have read it from a Bleacher Nation article but I don't recall if he has a source in there. BN isn't one to blow steam up your tail though.

Yeah I checked bleachernation for the first time today after posting that, and saw a similar comment there citing a Bruce Levine chat I believe. And I agree about BN. It has fast become one of my favorite Cubs blogs.
