Yeah, ok. Where did I bring up Fields? That's a tell, dude.

You just proved I hit the 🎯 on calling you out.

Seriously, every time, just have to give you guys enough rope with which to hang your own damn self LOL.

None of you ever see it coming and you guys always walk right into it...
You don't have to "mention Fields"

You're still talking about him in other threads remaining the QB and you're talking about drafting MJH and then not drafting any of the top two QBs and drafting and building around a QB.

It doesn't take much to figure out from your posting that you've been advocating to still start Fields and then in here you haven't mentioned drafting a new QB much less a QB that would start next year other than Fields.

You're one of the last of the loudest Justin Fields supporters on here and just because you're trying to be slick with this last post doesn't mean it's not obvious.

You're just young and probably don't understand how football actually works and you've got these preconceived notions and football cliches stuck in your head about building a team to win a Super Bowl.

The best example I can give you is the Rams having virtually the same team trading for Stafford getting rid of Goff and winning a Super Bowl. It's really that simple. McVay knew that had to change the QB and they did and won a Super Bowl immediately.

That's an awful lot of words to just tell me I'm right. :smug2:

You think you're right, if Justin Fields is in San Francisco or Philadelphia he plays as well as Baker Mayfield at very best.
Not even what I'm talking about. I'm talking about being right that you are having an emotional meltdown because there's a quarterback in the draft you want and therefore you hate any logical argument against taking a quarterback in this specific draft.

But you also need to understand you don't build a team by drafting a quarterback every 4 years, replacing your head coach and GM every 3 to 8 years, and the entire time doing very little to protect your quarterback investment over the entire cycle no matter who was in charge.

The quarterback is the hardest position to get right in the NFL. If you can build a good team for a quarterback to jump into that is going to help them succeed a lot better than putting them in a horrible situation and then that building around them which is the Bears track record going back to ever since I've been a bears fan. Or really to be fair the last time the Bears had a good offensive line was the year they went to the Super Bowl.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the cliche definition of insanity and yet that is what you endorse. Forgive me for wanting to take a different approach that will at the very least if successful yield winning seasons and yearly trips to the playoffs. Because with a good solid team and an average veteran fa quarterback you can do that much. As for the draft position, I guess you never heard of trading up. Suddenly all those picks don't mean as much if your team other than the quarterback is already built so you can sell out whatever picks you have for a year to get the guy you really want and you think will really succeed rather than just getting the hot name in a year because he's that guy that year.

Dude, just be honest instead of expecting us to accept the same Insanity we've always done. There's a quarterback you really like this year and you're not tolerating any arguments against whomever your guy is.

You are trying to dress an emotional argument in a logical one but a lot of us can see right through it because we've been through that before and we are tired of it. We want some damn entertaining football to watch. Not to see some other overhyped college Prospect fail and repeat the same cycle I denoted in this post.
Lots of folks like the shiny new toy and as you say that's the wrong approach. Trade the picks, load up the Lines and add a playmaker. Give JF next years with that. With the cap $$'s and picks if JF fails you go drop the next big QB prospect into a good situation. None of the top guys in this next draft are going to singlehandedly lift the Bears.

The main thing is there's just a lot of NFL teams that feel like they absolutely have to take a quarterback in certain situations. But if you have a monster team around everything else, you can make hay by signing a proven veteran quarterback who plays slightly above average that year and with some smart scheming you can catch lightning in a bottle.

A Smart GM then can in that situation try a lower risk investment by taking fliers on more risky quarterbacks in rounds two through four to develop behind the veteran and if none of them ever pan out you still have the veteran and in this case, if you're smart enough to hang on to a good backup, you always have your developmental guy there as well.

And if there's a superstar you really want to go grab in the first round you can just trade up with your picks and player capital, and they come into a really good team

Oh I get it you're hoping for Sanders in 2025.
