Can't say my expectations are too high.
COD in general has just gotten stale. If they introduce something innovative, something fresh, maybe I'll be a little more excited. Fixing the melee system would be a good start. I know the one hit knife kill is a fundamental game mechanic for the COD series, but it's always been broken. I shouldn't bring a gun to a knife fight and lose every time. If they added a two hit kill to the front and one hit kill to the back, I think it would fix a lot of issues with the panic knives.
They also need to upgrade the game engine. If they don't upgrade from the first black ops, they'll be using an engine that dates back FOUR games. Hell, use the MW2 engine. Hit detection in MW2 was fucking perfect.
As much hate as MW2 got, it is still my favorite game in the series. I still have fun on that game to this day. Frustrating as all hell, but so entertaining.
Sort of got off-topic, but yeah. I was never really a big fan of Black Ops, but mainly due to the outdated game engine and dull graphics. It just wasn't as aesthetically pleasing as the infinity ward installments. Hopefully they spice up the color palettes a bit... Too much gray in Black Ops.
