Wendell's injury is at 9:22 of the video.

Fun to watch Ironhead run with the ball in this video. Dude was huge.

How fucking long is our field going to continue to be the embarrassment of the NFL? Surely the Bears management recognizes that whatever the ideal field is it isn't the shitpile we've got going right now? The Packers have a (basically) grass field, and nobody complains about what they're doing. This has gone on for so long that I'm sick of talking about it. What's taking so long, change the fucking field. Change it to literally anything. I don't care if you install a paint ball course in the middle of the home endzone, at least we'd know you're switching away from what isn't working.

FIX. YOUR. SHIT.

remember Wendell Davis basically ending his career at the shit field that was Veterans Stadium in Philly?

"His career effectively ended on October 10, 1993, in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. While planting his feet to catch a pass, his cleats got stuck in the Astroturf at Veterans Stadium. The force of being pulled back to the ground was so severe that it completely severed both patella tendons. Doctors later found his kneecaps had been pushed all the way into his thighs. He spent several months in a wheelchair, with his legs encased in casts from thigh to ankle.[3] After spending the entire 1994 season in rehab, he attempted a comeback with the Indianapolis Colts in 1995, but did not appear in a game."

Yeah, I remember that as I was a big Wendell Davis fan, but because he was insanely awesome in Tecmo Super Bowl.

im so sick of the bitching and moaning about the field. its fucking football. I like that the field is sloppy and gets torn up. sure injuries suck, but again... its football. youve got guys going down regularly due to non contact injuries on supposedly much better surfaces, so...

Meatballs gonna meatball.

Who uses the Green Bay Field outside of the Packers? I'm sure some people do, but the problems with their synthetic hybrid turf will happen in Chicago if it was put in there too.

Places like Chicago and Pittsburgh have the worst turfs because they're overly used grass fields. They could either go back to turf or do a risky attempt at going with the not often tested in the situation hybrid combo.

Still remember watching that game live. Just horrendous. I've mentioned it here before but the injury was so jarring it almost took Davis out of frame as the ball sailed by.

The field is a joke.

The fact that we can't get turf put in is clear evidence the Bears are a second class franchise owned and operated by silver spoon dipshits.

What? You mean that the PARK DISTRICT can't do a good job? How can that be? Doesn't Rahm Emanuel appoint good people in his administration?

Parks department doesn't like having sod in Soldier Field, but they have to keep it because the Bears management wants it.

They let it be shitty because it is the only way to put pressure on Bears management to make the change to something that is easier to maintain.

The Park strategy is working because fans are irritated, players are irritated, and our field perennially looks like shit.... so each year they can go to Bears management and be like "So.... moar sod? okay.... but its shitty"

Not sure who else uses Lambeau Field, but I can picture a bunch of monster truck rallies, rodeos, and maybe a circus.

He speaks the truth and the players have been saying it for years, even Bears players. The NFL should have requirements and not allow such shitty play surfaces.

There's a little too much security at Soldier Field for that to happen. But if he just goes out into the city, then maybe your wish comes true.

Like Green Bay's hybrid turf is any better once winter starts. It all looks like shit in December. I'm still irritated The Bears and city of Chicago didn't get a retractable dome . Best of both worlds and have a final four or Super Bowl in Chicago. It fucking sucks places like Indy, Detroit, and Minneapolis get Super Bowls but Chicago no.
