Its high on my list i wont kid you about that , he has played most his ball in the south. Just a concern thats all, i think there are better wide receiver options in the second round.

If there are better options then him then they would be top 5-10 picks. Why would a better option ever be available in a later round?? Beside a huge character concern or a failed medical?

The difference in hand size in the way it generally translates on the field is guys with Average or smaller hands don't have a problem catching the ball (unless they're not very good football players) however, the guys with large hands have Better ability to make the spectacular catch.

When you see a WR who can routinely make one handed catches look easy, it's because they have Larger, stronger hands.

Insert OBJ, Alshon and so on. That's not Ridley's game because he lacks the physical tools to do so.

But how does Brown make all those ridiculous one handers?

I think hand strength factors in to it.. too bad they don’t measure hand strength.

Once one of you invents time travel, be sure your first stop is to tell the Vikings to pass on Randy Moss. A dude that height has no business being an NFL wideout with his 9.63 inch hands!

There are always outliers. Few and far between mind you.

Browns hand/eye coordination, concentration and body control are from another Dimension.

AJ Green has 9 1/4 inch hands. He sucks.
Calvin Johnson 9 1/4. He must suck too.

Yet he was one of the best hand catching-overall pass catching WR's in college football & all but pristine route runners with excellent playing speed. I think he'd be a great pick for our young QB at #8. So much for the hand size argument. IMO, outside or next to a stud OT, a field smart, well coached, athletic, great rout running WR with dependable hands & speed like Ridley is the best thing from this draft that could happen to the Bears QB.

Actually this is false. His drop percentage is well below average around 13 percent.

His route tree is not nearly as extensive as fans believe. He was used almost exclusively on go routes, screens and other underneath route's.

That doesn't mean he can't develop and get better but he's not on Cooper's level as a route runner. In part because of shotty QB play.

Here's a heat map of Ridley's touches in 2016.

As you can see, the majority of his routes are underneath and all of his down field touches are on out breaking routes.

He was NEVER utilized on in breaking routes over the middle. Which has stunted his route tree growth.

I love that heat map, great resource!

Ridley was held back by a shit QB in a run-focused offense, but we have an offensive minded HC that is looking to build something innovative. It would be foolish to expect Ridley to be everything he needs to be fresh out of the gate, but he has the best base to build from. I think getting him is the best long term investment we could make in this draft.

Sorry I want to get on board with this guy but I swear I can't find a highlight where he reaches out and grabs the ball with his hands. - not seeing any good contested catches either...

So the first highlight is an attempt at a one handed catch which he misses then catches in his other hand.

The second one he catches against his body.

There are some good catches in that vid and but a ton of them are against his chest, and quite honestly some looks like he bobbles some that hit his hands first.

Plus wasn't this from like 3 years ago? All his recent highlights show me the same.

Sorry I'm not sold. I am interested to watch his catching at the combine.
