And we discount Campana already why? Speed is great, shouldn't be the only factor to why a player is on the roster.

When Campana shows that he can get on base in the majors, then I will agree with you that Campana should be on the roster.

Campana has shown he can steal and beat out infield grounders those things put daggers in the heart of opponents.

Prove it.

Rami being 1 for the season with RISP is unacceptable for any cleanup hitter. He has been there much too long.

Okay?

I like him. I don't think he'll ever be a full-time starter, but I like his speed and his grit/hustle. The dude can run...wish we had more players that could run...or cared enough to, anyways.

Okay?

He obviously has gotten on base.

He stole 4 bags yesterday. Not the Cubs fault 2 starters are on the DL.

It doesn't matter what the top of the order does if run producers like Ramirez don't produce.

this truth sheds some light on the problem. Our highest paid players aren't producing. We won't win that way. No one can. It's frustrating to watch/read about over, and over, and over, and over, and over.............

We just need to see what he can do. The MLB sample size is too small right now. I just dont see it. I hope he turns into a good option but I see him as a specialist.

I really don't think that that is enough to warrant a spot on the 25 man roster.

I think if he produces as much as the other bench players (Johnson, DeWitt, Baker, etc.), it'll be an easy decision to keep him on the 25 man roster, assuming he bats half way decently and doesn't become a defensive liability, will be made much easier because of his speed.

Which is why it's been said and I'll say it again: Bring the kids up to play, let them get the experience, take their lumps, and bench Pena and Ramirez who aren't doing shit to benefit the team.

You can't bench potential trade chips, tho. It's going to be a buyer's market this year, which means potential trade chips have an increased value. Ramirez will be sought after, make no mistake. There's an even better chance Pena will be sought after, imo...he's only actually making $5M this season if I recall correctly, and we're giving him another $5M after the season. We'll still be on the hook for the latter $5M, meaning he'll only cost a prospective trade partner $2-3M.

that outfield is makin a lot of money, and they called up Colvin, so he has rank over em. before the deadline make some moves to make room for these guys.

Yeah, I'd like to unload as much as possible this trade deadline. Fuku, Ramirez, Pena, hopefully Demps, Z, and/or Garza. Soriano is a pipe-dream, tho.

No one would touch Kosuke's, Fonzies, or Z's contracts with the Torch of Gondor.

Kosuke can be had, I think....especially if he keeps batting around .300 to the trade deadline. Teams will start grasping at straws, and it's up to Ricketts/Hendry to make sure we get rid of these contracts and get decent value in return.

I think Hendry should be released by the deadline as well.

Kosuke could be moved and quite easily IMO. As long some decent prospects came back; eating some of the salary wouldn't kill us. Id say his D and OBP are desirable.

Why is it that Cubs fans always like the little white overachiever?

Campy is a career AAAA player. He will never be more.

True, but the threat helps.

Agree, hopefully he can take a walk.

Getting on base isn't the problem, it's the guys like Ramirez and Pena not being clutch.

A SB helps not only with a SB but also going 1st to 3rd and on wild pitches. Those are the battles the Cubs are losing.

How often does someone go first to third on a wild pitch?

I think Campana could be valuable if he A) gets his K's down and B) gets his BB's up.

No way will he do anything at the major league level striking out 20% of the time and walking only 5% of the time. With his speed he can most likely have a .340-ish BABIP but that still only going to give him a .270-ish BA with an OBP around 305. Given that his IsoP in the minors has been around a .06 we are looking at something like a .270/.305/.330 guy with just okay defense. That's just not feasible.

That's about what I would expect to see from him.
