fair enough. I want to start Fields this year FYI

I want him in there too. I just wanna be sure he's better than Dalton out the gate and the OL can pass pro him.
Also if the vets are rallying Fields vs Dalton, then Fields should start IMO

FYI....I always appreciate feedback from ya... thanks

You never played Qb or you'd know how important depth perception is when throwing down field. I have other articles (in addition to the one below) from eye specialists on the severity of nearsightedness.

Jameis Winston shares how his vision has improved since ...

Also read baselman1974's post>>>#73

"He can't read the scoreboard, but he can see the guys in front of him, so he's fine," Bucs coach Bruce Arians said at the end of the season.

It depends what kind of contact lenses Winston wears. If it’s the soft contact lens, He can wear those no problems, even if they pop out, they should have a box full them to replace.

No if he wears the hard gas permeable ones, then Winston will have problems. Sweat alone makes wearing them unbearable unless he has wetting solution when he gets on sidelines. Same with windy days and lots swrling debris. Those days wants me to rip my eyes from my sockets. Not only that, those lenses are $40 each one. Winston probably buys them in bulk because they pop out often. Good luck finding your lenses on a football field.

IUeyedoc probably has more information about lenses than I do. I’m just going on my own personal experiences.

It looks like he could have worn goggles if he really needed to...

When asked whether Winston considered wearing contact lenses, Arians said, "He's got goggles that he practices in sometimes."

He has contacts and doesn't like wearing them, but it's a very minimal prescription,"

Watson’s success came basically with the “chuck and duck” strategy to the best WR in the game at that time. Like Stafford did for much of his career in Detroit with Calvin Johnson. Once that great WR was taken away (even though he still had decent WRs left) he was nowhere near as good.

That's a whole lot of stupid...

FYI......I have personal experience with this nearsighted issue. I can comfortably say, if a person squints, they can't half see. Please keep this in mind......At the end of the day Arians is not a eye specialist.

This clinical guy weighed in on Winston's eye problems (nearsighted) a while back

Steven A. Hitzeman, a clinical associate professor at Indiana's School of Optometry, said there is a direct correlation between vision and athletic performance.

"Visual acuity is a strong predictor of performance," Hitzeman said. "Visual performance and athletic performance. The better you see, the better you perform.

"If I was his optometrist, if I was his coach, if I was his parent, I would make sure he's wearing correction when he plays," Hitzeman said. "His performance should be better with contacts than without. ... I would think that he would see much better and play much better wearing visual correction. "

"The better the acuity, the quicker you respond to visual stimuli. The quicker you respond to visual stimuli, the better decisions you're going to make. The quicker decisions you're going to make, the better you're going to play."Hitzeman said.

Here's some additional info.
The sports pages were all atwitter this weekend talking about how, the FSU quarterback, Jameis Winston doesn’t like to wear his contacts while playing football. He is afraid they will pop out. Problem solved, squinting Jameis Winston decided to get OrthoKeratology. The commentators of the FSU-Miami game even commented on how the Heisman candidate QB was squinting to see which play the coach was calling from the sideline. Yahoo News also shows him squinting to find a receiver downfield.

No matter how good you are you will play, and perform at a higher level with better vision. A fact not lost on Winston’s coach, Jimbo Fisher. At the post game press conference Fisher stated “imagine how good he would be if he could see.” I concur, now he will be able to see the eyes of the defender, and his receiver’s, a huge benefit for players at any level. Look out Wake Forest and Syracuse.

This is from a few yrs. ago . It apparently didn't work. So he ended up getting lasik.
