Can the Bulls live without three point shooting? If not where does it come from?

Actually 3 point range is one of the most likely things to add deep in your career. It's not that uncommon for guys to increase their range deep in their careers. Especially given that Deng hasn't been put in position to be a three point shooter for much of his career.

The Bulls actually told him to not shoot threes in the Skiles era (which made sense given they had a backcourt of Kirk and Ben who could both shoot).

Actually, telling Deng not to shoot 3's at all in this age of basketball was silly. No wing player should be told not to shoot threes. It was one of the mistakes Skiles made during his time here.

To those who doubt, look at Larry Bird's accuracy from 3pt over the first 5 years of his career...under 30%. He would then jump from 24% to 43% in one season. After that he would never look back. The accuracy is still there for Deng in what amounts to a limited sample. If he was to attempt 225+ 3pts over the course of the season, I would be surprised if he didn't hit a third of those shots.

Watson is a combo-guard, who plays much more like an undersized SG than anything else... he plays mainly off-the-ball. I'd actually rather Korver cut into Deng's minutes than C.J. Watson. I think Deng has been playing too many minutes for the span of his young career. Some guys just aren't built to play that long every night, and break down as the year goes along.

Back to the subject at hand- the Bulls sort of would handcuff themselves in terms of fast break/slashing offense with a perimeter of Deng-Korver-Rose, but I defffffinitely like the sounds of that to spread the floor in a slow-paced game.

*imagining that in a half-court set with Rose and Boozer working the pick and roll*

That is exactly right, I watched him a lot last year for fantasy league reasons (he was on my team...). He is a combo guard who can run an offense but he is not as quick to defer to teammates when it comes to shooting the ball. He is very aggressive and is a decent scorer. He may remind some of Chris Duhon in that he will go off once or twice a season and score far above his average given the minutes. But his scoring on average is better than Duhon's. Though he shot a bit below average from long range, he can shoot the three well.

He should play behind Rose but will play alongside Rose at times also. He played a lot off the ball because Curry is a better ballhandler and Ellis is....well, he is Monta Ellis, and he wants the ball...lol.

Thats because he was so awful at it at a rookie..Atleast the games I saw. I went to a game in December 2004 and Deng shot a couple of awful three and later in the game was wide open for one and all the fans around me were yelling "NOOOO!" because they didnt want him shooting three's anymore.

That said..it did make sense not for him to either because of Kirk and Ben.
