Can we talk about Trey Burton?

Trey Burton is the single biggest piece of evidence that I think you can point to that shows Nagy has been figured out.

Last year he had 54 catches 569 yards and 6 TDs.

However, in the first half of the season alone, he had 29 catches 371 yards and 5 tds. In other words, 54% of his catches, 65% of his yards, and 83% of his TDs came in his first 8 games.

Since then he's been largely ineffective. It suggests to me that teams learned the gimmicks that Nagy was using to get him open and stopping them.

you think a tight end who has been hurt and appears to be a head case regressing is proof that his coaches offense has been figure out?

okay?

Leno: Save 3 [7 dead]
Long: Save 7ish [1 dead]
Burton: Save 1 [7 dead]
Gabriel: Save 4.5 [2 dead]

Is it really worth cutting burton just to save a million?

At that point just keep him on the roster, no matter how shit he's been.

Do Leno or Burton have offset language? I can see recouping half their dead from other teams resigning.

I still stand by my opinion that nagy hasn't really been "figured out".

Issue is we cant run block OR pass block. That means we don't have time to throw, or read the field for the QB. That means a defense can just play up to stop those short screens and the run game.

Last year Mitch was very aggressive downfield, and we threw it downfield a lot. This year, its very rare to see. Hard to have a west coast offense work when you can't stretch the field horizontally at all. So now the things that worked last year, don't this year. Those screens used to work, I'd venture to bet if we got a couple 20+ yard throws in a game they will open up again in that game.

This. There are a ton of wide open receivers, missed passes, alligator arms, running into defenders and lineman getting their ass whooped.

Maybe the opening play of the season was a total fuckload of foreshadowing. Cohen has a hole a bus could drive through but instead drops the pitch.

When he was in Philly the only time he'd be more than our 3rd TE was when someone was injured.

He was good in that 3rd TE role. Nice little mismatch out of 12 personal when the opponent didn't know his name.

But 8th highest paid TE in the NFL???

I didn't know he was the 8th highest paid TE... but he was the #8 TE in 2018.

Pace usually leaves himself an out with these free agent contracts. Since you have the off-season spread sheets what are the costs of dumping some of these bad contracts like

Leno
Long
Burton
Gabriel
Gabriel was playing pretty darn well before he got concussed, no?

He was but that’s his game. Do good in one disappear in 4 etc. plus you can tell by his contract they don’t plan on keeping him
