dumb...but is what it is.

Same reason Suh got fined $50k or whatever it was in the pre-season...the result wasn't the intention, but do it often enough, ya get burned.

I suppose it is what it is - however, I read that Carcillo didn't get a minor for what he got suspended for - which I can see why a guy would be upset by the lack of consistency.

I didn't see the hit or replay yet, so i'm trusting that if you guys are saying it's weak then it is. The suspension was most likely based on the name then

NHL wonders why they're the 4th/5th most popular professional sport.

Pitkanen had the puck right as Carcillo made contact.

Plus, Pitkanen is a big dude... Carcillo leaned on him and dude lost his footing. It's more of a freak play than any real intent on Carcillo's part. Hence, no penalty called in the game.

Refs got it right, Blake did not.

You do that in the regular workforce -then you get some issues with the union --- using some sort of term like: "Disparity of Treatment".

I didn't see the replay- but was only going off the fact that the refs didn't call a penalty. I can't see where the refs are going to be a big fan of this sort of thing either where you have someone in a suit (former player or not), not on the ice at the time, basically saying in effect that there should have been a penalty to justify the suspension just handed out.

That sort of thing might cause some problems (the lack of clarity of policy administration). It also might not be anything that anyone goes on the record with, but sort of quietly gets modified during the course of the season.

It's actually pretty similar to the Ovechkin and campbell incident in my opinion

you cannot compare the two hits at all.

Except:

Ovechkin shoved Campbell a lot harder
Ovechkin received a penalty on the ice
Campbell was injured pretty badly

So he was shoved alot harder. The motion was there to shove him and luckily there was no injury which would have gotten car bomb more games
