Starlin Castro save the game tonight for the Cubs. He played great defense all game. Saved two errors and great play to end it. That's a tough ass ball to handle.

It was an inbetween hop that he had to take on the short hop. Ive seen tons of shortstops handle the ball the same way. Its a tough play. Don't get all upset because he played really good D tonight.

I am simply pointing out a fundamentally unsound play that exaggerates the difficulty of the play.

It was an in between bounce, but one that was hit right at him. Not up the middle or into the hole and a play that many, many shortstops make by playing the ball correctly and in front of them that few people would notice or remember.

He also had two picks in the dirt that are very hard to handle tonight to save two errors. The last play of a game was still a difficult play and watched many players boot same type of ball. I didn't say it was the greatest play ever, but yes, it was a good play that can give any shortstop in this league trouble.

Glad Wood was able to escape that early trouble and only allow the one run. Orel Hershiser made a great point -- the Cardinals are attacking the outer half the plate. Wood needs to work on keeping the ball down and on the inner half the plate.

Three bagger for Castro! Seems to be breaking out of his slump. He's been solid defensively and is hitting over .300 since June 26th.
