The notion that Cubs reliever Carlos Marmol can build up any trade value is preposterous, tweets David Kaplan of CSN Chicago. Marmol was yanked in the eighth inning today after allowing two walks and hitting a batter, which led to two runs to break open a tie ballgame. After today's implosion, Marmol has more walks than strikeouts after throwing 11 2/3 innings.

It is getting to the point that the Cubs are going to have to cut their losses when Fujikawa gets back. Though Camp hasn't really been any better.

I remember when the bandwagon jumpers were on the Carlos Marmol bandwagon. He was the next big thing. They jumped off after a few years. Those same fans probably hated Kevin Gregg a few years ago but they probably love him now. Lets see how long that will last.

I thought if you're a fan of a team, you normally are happy with players that are performing well for your team. If that player starts hurting your team, you shouldn't be expected to keep singing their praises. The players within your own team bandwagon concept is kind of stupid to me.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum says his team has no intention of releasing struggling reliever Carlos Marmol and eating the rest of his $9.8MM salary, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports. "We've come to find out that he has trouble with the last three outs," says Sveum. "But somebody has to pitch the other innings, and he's done a pretty good job in that role." Marmol allowed four runs in the ninth as the Cubs lost to the Mets 4-3 on Sunday.

I checked to see how marmol has done in non saved situations compared to saves situation for this year and he does perform much better..

Sav-Sit 10 G batters have 40 PA .345 Avg .526 OBP 1.077 OPS he has 1 W 2 L 7 IP 10.29 ERA 2.714 Whip

Non-Sav 19 G batters have 80 PA .179 Avg .300 OBP .658 OPS he has 1 W 1 L 19.1 IP 1.190 Whip

so, the key here is for sveum to stop using this guy in saves situation for the next month so they can dump his ass by the deadline
