Smart move -- Gotta hope Marmol has a solid April/May so Detroit or some team w/ injuries in the bullpen comes calling and offers a decent 'spect.

I would love for marmol to be the tigers closer!

saw it was 5-1 cubs and figured cubs won. turn on sportsnet and see that marmol didnt walk a blown save but got shelled. didnt pay attention to pitch selection so im not sure if they were fastballs but either way this guy is done as a cub.i cant see him being effective in chicago. whoever takes him probably sees something. but he is beyond terrible.

Might as well start selecting fans from the bleachers as part of the Committed campaign and walk them out there for the 9th inning

No Dibble pitched better.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/dibblro01.shtml

http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/marmoca01.shtml

Rob Dibble was an All Star closer with questionable command and a wipe out slider. Dibble was cruising along his career when he lost something at age 27, had a spike year at age 28, and declined rapidly afterwards. He was essentially done at age 29 and he was basically out of baseball at 31.

Carlos Marmol was an All Star reliever with questionable command and a wipe out slider. Marmol was cruising along his career when he lost something (command) at age 26, had a spike year at age 27, then degraded rapidly afterwards.

If you comp the numbers relative to age and the repertoire, they are essentially the same pitcher.
