I am on day 2 of returning to Atkins, and I may try to get some IF going as well.
So f***ing fat rn

Carnivore diet is basically a meat only diet. There are different levels of acceptance. There are some who will literally eat nothing but meat. Others just eat animal products which means they can eat eggs and some dairy along with meat. The dairy is usually always limited to grass-fed butter and possibly some cheese since it has next to no carbs. What is the carnivore diet?
Keto is tough for me, effective, but so easy to bust out of and have to start over.
Isn't @Spartan an expert at this? Not to derail, but chime in Sparty!

Keto was a bit difficult in the beginning for me cause I jumped in without thorough knowledge of it but combined with IF, there's no way to really go wrong. If you don't do keto quite right, IF picks up the slack. After learning all the ins and outs of keto and really what makes it as effective as it is, I thought up of a good small core of food that I'd eat most frequently and over the next several months, it just became the food I crave most so kinda went on autopilot after that, not sweating if I was getting enough of the good fats or too much carbs cause I knew the food I'd chose was plenty keto friendly.
It's extremely easy for me now. I eat a lot of meat, favorite being steak, then salmon. I'll have a lot of chicken and burgers too. Chicken not really fatty enough for keto but I dip that in lots of mayo which I like a lot. Make my own mayo. Only takes a minute to make a batch. Idea is you want to avoid store bought mayo cause it uses the inferior type oils and fats so you make your own with olive oil and/or avocado oil. I eat a lot of eggs and bacon too. My 2 main vegetables are broccoli and spinach. I put a lot of butter on that stuff cause I like it like that and Keto likes when you add fat to foods.
As far as it being easy to get kicked out of keto and having to start over again, that's not really true. Firstly, it doesn't take that long to get into ketosis. Secondly, when combined with Intermittent Fasting, it's going to be easier to maintain ketosis. Also need to consider how long you've been doing keto cause the longer you do it, the more fat adapted you'll be and the quicker you'll go right back into ketosis even when kicked out of it. And it's not like your gonna die if your body has to burn sugar as fuel instead of fat for a bit. Even while following keto, you are going to get small amounts of sugar that the body is going to burn as fuel til it's used up. Nobody will ever just be burning fat 100% of the time. It's more like you're a hybrid that burns mostly fat as fuel.
Personally, I think it's silly when people worry about getting kicked out of ketosis. You're not going to lose all the benefits you gained cause of one day of slipping up. I've been doing it for over 1.5 years and have absolutely no fear of being kicked out of ketosis. I never feel a need to "cheat" anymore or really even get a craving to but I am not afraid to either cause I'm that set and satisfied in this keto way of eating. Offer me a sweet potato every now and then and I won't feel inclined to decline. We go into the city now and then, don't usually spend the whole day there so don't usually grab a meal there but last time we made a day of it, the kids and wife wanted to go eat at this pizza place. My daughter has a friend who's father owns it and it's free when we inform him we'll be in that area so who's gonna say no to free NYC pizza? Had damn near a whole pie by myself and threw in a couple of garlic knots for good measure. Next day, just out of curiosity, I got out the old keto mojo to measure ketones. I'd say about 14-16 hours had passed since I'd eaten that pizza and the reading was at 1.0 mmol/L so not even a bump in the road really. Right back to my keto self, happy with my keto food as if it was nothing but a thing. I like pizza but I don't crave it or need it and I much prefer a big steak. It's really a lot easier than most people think to change eating habits. Just have to give the new way of eating enough time to become your new habit.
Really nothing to it. Simplest and cheapest weight control plan there is. Really, most who do it don't just do it to lose weight. Even after they lose the weight they'll stick with it for the health benefits. You need buy nothing or do anything when fasting. It's most often combined with keto to amplify its effects but you don't have to do keto in order for it to work.Give me some IF tips, @Spartan !
20:4 is suiting me best. I enjoy not thinking about food, i.e.,next meal and snacks. I also like the challenge of it. 8 days in and Im down 9 lbs. A lot of water weight for sure, but I'm feeling great!
I just stopped my keto diet after going from 220 to 169. Took me from Aug 4 to Dec7 th. Then I went on a cruise so I said **** it. Now I am going to go back on it because I truly believe I sleep better and am more clear headed when I am on it. (Some of that might be due to the copious amounts of alcohol). I have put on about 10 lbs in the month since I stopped. But that was a cruise and the holidays. About the only thing I ever missed was eating potatoes. I freaking love hashed brown potatoes and baked potatoes.Always that water/bloat weight coming off the first few days.
Then you actually start working on your body fat.
I was 243 on Sunday.... 236.8 last night.
8-9 lbs of real weight loss doesn't happen in 4 days... it is mostly bloat.
I figure end of this week and next week I'll truly be starting.

@1COBearsfan You said Chicken isn't fatty enough for you. Here is a chicken recipe that is just glorious.
Take a boneless chicken breast and beat the ****** until it is flat like a pancake. Place the chicken over 4 or 5 pieces of bacon. Smear cream cheese over the chicken. Add one bunch of green onions, cheddar cheese. and then roll it up like a burrito and use toothpicks to hold it together. In the oven for 35 minutes at 350.
Mouthwatering.

Tried crack chicken last night. Made it in a crockpot though. It is really good but nothing like the chicken recipe I gave you. They have mostly the same ingredients but taste completely different. Two totally different textures. That sounds like an acceptable chicken recipe.
We make another chicken recipe in our instant pot that’s fantastic, the only name I know it as is crack chicken. The recipe is easy enough to find so I’ll just list the ingredients. Chicken(we use thighs, not breast) bacon, cream cheese, some form of shredded cheese, a packet of ranch seasoning. We can never make enough of this shit. An entire instant pot full is usually devoured, maybe leaving us with one lunches worth

Still very good.
