Kind of stuck on "hot hatches". I can't afford to have more than one car so I want one that attempts to do a little bit of everything (practicality/economy/performance/comfort/style) even if it isn't outstanding at anything. Have been thinking about getting a mkVII Golf R in about a year. It'll be in the US soon but at first dealers are going to want MSRP so to me it's dumb not to wait. But even when deals are to be had it's still a lot of money (for me anyway) and if I spend that much I have to be sure I love it because I'm gonna keep it forever. If I don't love it I'll keep what I have or keep looking...

Normally I get a new car about every five years, about the time the warranty expires. Makes bad economic sense because I never stop having payments, but I get bored after a while.

If I ever move back to the midwest I will go back to a 4x4 small pickup. Mileage sucks but when I lived in MN I used to hate it when I'd be parked on the street and a snow plow would go by and pile two feet of snow alongside and I'd have to dig myself out. When I had a truck I could just say **** it and go right through. Plus back then I was always going camping and liked being able to throw a couple weeks worth of stuff in there.

It's unfortunate that we don't get all the cool hot hatches that Europe gets (Renault, Citroen, etc).

Off topic section and no one talking about cars?

Tell us what you are into. And no, don't do the typical shit on this boards where by the fifth post it turns into some lame dick fest with stupid unfunny GIFS.

Are you into small nimble cars for track? Are you into big American V8 muscle cars for straight line? Are you into those big ass diesel pick ups?

I can appreciate any of them. For me though, my love of cars is largely centered around insanely expensive beautiful performance shit I'd never be able to afford - but I can dream. Current things like the Pagani Zonda Cinque or the Koenigsegg Agera R. Or rare and unique Italian works of art like the '67 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale in my avatar (only 17 made) or the Lamborghini Miura S or the Ferrari 245 Dino GTS.

I've been fortunate enough to own some fun cars and couldn't imagine life without the ability to take a small, lightweight agile car around country road twisties or a nice track day. Also fortunate enough to have made friends with some 'car guys' who have incredible cars and are nice enough to let me pilot them for a bit.

And there is no debate. Proper cars require 3 pedals. Period. End of story.

Full on American v-8 nut... partial to GM.

My "daily driver"(work truck for work, so not a "real" daily driver") is a Charger srt with various upgrades, nothing ultra special. It does however have he best sounding roar of any vehicle I have ever owned. My lady did the shopping for that one, and she chose perfectly.

Project car is a 79 firebird, and that has been a blast, but almost done and time to sell and go shopping.
Next car up is a 70's to 80's stingray, and want to focus on just a powertrain build (if anyone has a crippled one laying around, send me stats). Painting has been fun, but the maintenance on a "clean room" to do it in has lost it's appeal.

Love the 60's-70's American muscle. I have owned a slew of novas, firebirds, monte carlo's and more camaro's than I can count.
My ATF was a 78 firebird... junk when I bought it and sold it for over 20k... smelled and looked like it was off the line when I sold it.

my biggest steal was a 73 nova for $600 from a guy down the street. I beat it up and drove it like an idiot for a year, put on a chrome engine dress up kit from JC whitney, new rims and tires on it (400 thru auto trader) and sold it the following year for 4500.

I respect and appreciate the coupes and supercars, but I am at home in a big, loud, hard-to-drive, straight line machine.
Nothing better than a nice summer evening cruise in a car that makes gearheads reminisce about their "lost loves".

As far as a "Dream car", mine is unbelievably dorky, and an unbelievably shitty car, but it is the end game for me as far as car builds. A 1973 ford falcon XB gt.
Aside from having to import it from australlia, shouldn't be much of an issue:nope:

My life will be complete with the addition of the ultimate dork mobile.

At a place called Westen auto's, on wetersn near north ave I believe, they had a delorean that sat there for YEARS.
I would always stop and look at it through the fence and dream, someday.....
Coolest car ever.

Be careful what you wish for. They are of horrible quality and very unreliable.

Had the oppty to drive one last year and it was slow, clunky and awful. But still cool!

You are confirming everything I've ever thought about them as an outsider. That one is definitely near the top of my list for a "weekend fun / spirited drive car". How tall are you? Is there size a problem for taller drivers?

BTW, 'spirited drive' - here's a pic that's an example of what we do about a half dozen times each summer. Bunch of us taking a photo break on a spirited drive through Wisconsin's 'Kettle Morraine' area up to Road America. A few Elise, a couple Exige, one Evora and an Esprit. This was a small turn out - usually we have north of 15 cars and often open it up to other marques - Ferrari, Lambo, Aston, MC, Porsche, GTR, etc.

Mine is the orange one in front (in front of the dark red one):

Nope!

Impossible to run anyone into a ditch with that car. It's 1950# and made of fiberglass which cracks with a good fart! However, because it's so low I've had my share of drivers (almost always women in minivans or SUVs) almost run me of the road with lane changes.

My last ride was an 06 300 srt, I wanted the charger but came across this one and couldnt pass on it after the test drive. I did the corsa exhaust and it was one of the best sounding cars I have driven. I traded it in on my new truck, and I miss it everyday. The tickets just kept pilling up. Here are a couple pics of it and the truck I had before the 300.
