Think they feel like they are just a QB away and have to keep swinging. If Watson can play, he's surely an upgrade. If not, it's as you say but you forget the great Trubisky is still out there. LMAO. At the rate these QB trades are happening, don't think we'll have to wait long to find out.

But if turns out that Watson clears his legal issues and can play...the Colts don't have a 1st rounder this year to seriously be in a trade discussion for him. Too many other QB needy teams will have more to offer the Texans.

I get that but Watson still has to clear the trade and Colts would seem to be one of the more desireable landing spots in terms of potential SB contenders. Can always throw in their '23 first round pick along with the #42 pick this year.

I think it will take a lot more than that to land Watson. Someone is going to massively overpay for him. Rumor last year was the Texans wanted 3 1st round picks and 3 2nd round picks. I doubt they get that much, but I think it will take at least a couple of 1st round picks to land Watson.

The comparison that will be used is the just completed Russell Wilson trade and that haul. Wilson is more accomplished, but Watson is younger.

And you have to think that Carolina and Pittsburgh will be interested in addition to Indy. Hell, maybe even Seattle makes an inquiry at this point.

Colts gave up a 1st and 3rd for Wentz.. You don't give up that much for a stopgap haha.

It's an odd move. The colts were built to be competitive and make a run if things fell their way. I wonder what their plan is to replace Wentz.

For this specific trade for Wentz to the Commanders, I actually think it makes a kind of sense for both sides.

Once Indy was very lukewarm in their press conferences about Wentz's status, the writing was on the wall. I don't think that Wentz would operate well in an environment where would be the kinds of questions about the organizations commitment to him. So, they had to move on. He was a sunk cost and then you are trying to just get what you can.

For Washington, I think they realized that they are likely not going to be a choice of any FA qb that could have reasonable starting potential. So yeah, they were desperate, but they didn't give up too much either to take a flyer on Wentz and bringing him back to the NFC East and have someone that can be a starting qb in the NFL.

Zero chance Houston trades Watson to Indy and then has to see him twice a year for the next decade. Regardless of whatever the market rate for Watson becomes, Houston will be able to find a reasonably comparable offer from someone outside of the AFC South. Watson to Indy is just nonsense...

Watch for the Eagles to make a strong push there. They can offer Houston picks and a young QB in Hurts.

Last week they sent investigators to Houston and they spoke to Watson's agent. A year ago pre legal trouble Philly wasn't a desired location. Watson might have changed his mind.

I don't think Houston is in that position anymore with Watson. Sensing they have a greater sense of urgency to unload him. Definitely not getting a Wilson-like return with such character issues.

Thank you so much.

That's my guess. They just need an average QB to make a run with that run game and D.

It's funny how fast Wentz became the Andy Dalton of the league.
On one of the Hoge and Jahns Bears beat podcasts during Super Bowl week where they walked around talking to GM’s and scouts and asked various questions ranging from Justin Fields and the Bears all the way to Mitch Trubs, and they were a little surprised at the interest some teams had in bringing Mitch in. They then listed off the various teams they felt might a run at Mitch and then someone suggested, “the Colts too,” and they rebuffed it stating that the Colts were one of the few teams not high on Mitch.

Could have been a smokescreen though. Although it’s kind of a stretch to think the Colts were thinking “smoke screen” all they back during Super Bowl week, but it’s certainly possible. Maybe the Colts are playing Chess while everyone else is playing Checkers. Lol. Time will tell/we will see………

His last 2 draft classes have stunk, I think rated an F.
2020 all-pro rb, thousand yard wr and a up and coming corner. In what world is that an F draft lmao

And if you’re already calling their ‘21 draft an F, I’ve got some bad news about the Bears…
