Do you own a cat? We have a 25-pound Maine Coon who has a mullet.

Tell your cat stories here.

Maine Coons are notoriously large animals. One time we hired moving help and they wouldn't go in the same room as our cat. the funny thing about ours is he was a shelter cat and the runt of a mongrel litter but he has all the thoroughbred indicators of maine coon-ness (polydactyl, "M" marking on forehead, double coat, predilection for water, etc.). ernest hemingway's trademark himalayans are offshoots of maine coon felines.

Yes we have a cat. Just an average domestic shorthair. Black with white paws and about 12 lbs. Wasn't my idea to get her as I'm not a big fan of cats. Shes OK but kinda irritates me a lot. I enjoy dogs a lot more.

I would like for us to get a Siberian Husky but I wouldn't subject a dog to condo/yardless living. Once we have a yard, I'll get one

oh, that's not our cat. That's just some google images of big Maine Coons. Ours is big but not that big. I grew up on a farm that at one point had 16 cats (that I was in charge of looking after), some indoor, some outdoor -- so I have a soft spot for them. We also had dogs, roosters, cows, horses, the whole farm shit. Animals are cool. Except opossums. Those ******* can eat a bowl of dicks. I had to wage war against them to feed da cats.

I disagree. That's like saying people who like tomatoes are assholes simply because you don't like tomatoes. In a word, immature.

I think people who coop dogs up in condos should be exterminated. So with that in mind, I am going to try to bulk up our cat to 40 pounds. My brother gave his cat carbo-fuel in college while he was trying to bulk up and it ended up looking like Ndamokung Suh. Its name was "Heineken" and it died of feline diabetes.

When we lived in Humboldt Park, our cat would kill several mice a day and arrange their decapitated heads on our coffee table as a sort of progress report for when we got home. Cats are pretty smart.

I have an orange tabby. He's a tank for not being a specialized breed (something around 18-20 lbs currently). One day I'd like to get a Savannah; they just sound like an entertaining animal to own -- nothing like a cat with an 8' vertical. On a side note, did you guys hear about the dipshit that shot one in Detroit recently? I love the reaction of "hey, a big animal...I should shoot it." I'm just going to randomly start picking off every unleashed animal I see. Oh, and apparently this happened again in Louisiana last year as well. Fucking people are brilliant. At least that asshat was charged.

I did not hear about that. Was it Jim Schwartz? I had an orange tabby named Warren in college who was a bad-ass motherfucker. He stole our hearts when he shat on the bed of the guy we were subletting from who overcharged for rent and had lumberjack tranny porn under said bed

Omelet, try higher-hanging fruit.

Anyway, I find the "real men don't own cats" argument flawed on several levels. They don't eat their own, or your, or anybody's, shit.

I think cats are magnificent creatures. Especially our cat.

I have two cats, one is all black and is fat cat, thing just eats nonstop. Great Cat and very friendly. Our other cat is my oldest daughter, she is all black with white paws, and follows my daughter everywhere. They are tied to the hip, when my daughter is at school, her cat sits in the window all day until she comes home. This cat is small thought, and looks like she is still a kitten, the other cat never lets her eat.

And Ole I recommend getting that Husky someday. I have one and he is the best dog Ive ever had. Great with the kids, goofy and loves to run and play

Got a 16 year old mainecoon myself. Down to about 14 lbs because he is deaf and going blind so doesn't hunt as well, but did catch a chipmunk a couple weeks ago. I won't be getting another housecat when he's gone becauseI'm allergic, but they are a lot of fun. At the farm we try to keep cats for the barns but feral cats are fickle.

We've got a black and tan cat my kids caught in the field across the road. Some asshole dumped him when he was only 5 or 6 weeks old. Took the kids 2 days to catch his wild ass. He's now 9 or 10 and 18 lbs. Very loving cat and we never have a problem with mice.

I was always much more of a dog person than a cat person. I never had a cat and it pissed me off how it seemed like they could really give a shit if you came or went and made you feel like their personal butler.

But then I got married and we wanted a pet. Thing is, the wife and I travel way too much to take care of a dog. Oh, and she is a full on cat person. Thinks dogs are dumb and smelly. But still, the travelling was a problem even for a cat.

So we decided we would do the foster program with the local shelter. The program where you take care of cat that doesn't do well around other cats in your home, until it gets adopted.

So we got this cat that was all fucked up in the head. Right away it bonded with my wife and didn't like me. Over the next couple months we nursed it back to sanity. By that time, the cat had started to bond with me and it got to the point where I was the favorite. I worked with the cat like a fuckin dog and trained it to come, sit, hang out with me while I smoke outside without leaving the porch, and to take short walks in the neighborhood without a leash.

Long story short, I'm a sucker. When it came time to start taking the cat to the pet store for adoption days, I freaked out and drove straight to the shelter and adopted the ****** formally. And we all lived happily ever after. Except now my wife sometimes get jealous of the attention the cat gets.
