I'm not a big fan of cats, in all actuality. My wife's family has a cat...pretty sure she's the spawn of satan. My parents have 3 cats. One of them I like...she's 17+ years old.
Cat pictures can just be funny though. Caturday has been around forever...I just brought it here for the lulz. There's a shitload of funny cat pictures out there. It's similar to the thread we had a while back called "so lebron said..." where we just found/made pics/gif's of LeBron's epic fails. It's humorous.
The "Welcome Big Cat" thing actually isn't related at all. A principal at a school I did some work for called all the boys "big cat" as opposed to "big dog", and had a surprisingly interesting theory behind it...how cats are viewed as less aggressive and he had actually seen a decrease in spats among the students since he began using the phrase. It was not solely the purpose, but one he believed made a difference, and I adopted it.
