Here’s one of those rare opportunities where the frenzy that is about to take place can translate right into fantasy football. I was in a league like this once before and it was a blast so I am willing to offer this up to CCS, starting with one league of 10 teams and if it takes off, I’ll open another. I will not be taking a team, just running the league as commissioner for the draft. The cost is zero, the prize is bragging rights.
Here’s how it works. After we have our ten teams and one volunteer to run the league after the draft which really is no work since yahoo will keep track of everything, I will set a date when every player in the NFL becomes a free agent.
Each team has $200 to acquire 18 players. Bids can be placed for anyone at any amount in whole numbers, no change. Ex. Tom Brady can be bid for $3, the next bid has to be at least $1 more. You may not bid on players you have no room for. Ex. You have one roster spot, you may not be the leader on two players (Ex. Can’t have Tom Brady at $3 and Jason Witten at $2 since you only have room for one). You may also not bid on a position if you are locked already. Ex. You have two Def/St, you may not bid on a third. You may also not bid more than money you have. Ex. You have two spots open on your roster and $3 left in your budget. The most you could bid is $2 on roster spot.
Each night at 8 PM, the bidding will end for that day. All bids after 8 PM will go toward the next day. Players that have a bid will get Day 1 status. If no bids are made on the next day, Day 2 status are given. If no bids are made for two consecutive days after the initial bid, that player is deemed to be sold. Ex. Tom Brady gets a bid of $3 and no one bids for two consecutive days on Tom. He is sold for $3. If a bid comes in on day 2 before 8 PM, Tom Brady gets his status reset and is available again for bidding. Draft continues until rosters are full or no bids on any players happen for three consecutive days. Once the draft ends, everyone not on a team will be available via normal free agency without any salary attached to them
Rosters are as follows:
2 Def/St
2 K
2 TE
12 (QB, RB, WR)
Starting lineups will be:
1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex (wr/rb), 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Def/ST
