If we were to do a podcast of some sort, would you guys check it out? I think I might talk to Zack about a quick 5-10 minute update about shit on the site, maybe clown some members, etc.

Also we're a Chicago sports site and when Lefty/FedEx do 643 Sports radio on Monday nights, nobody is really online at that time. If you were able to listen to a time slot....what time would be ideal for you? Just wondering why more people aren't online on Monday nights.

I think the podcast idea is great. We should have a dedicated team of people just giving their take on some issues and then we could compile it into a podcast. As for the show, I work Monday nights during that time, so I can't listen to it. I was working 70+ hours a week this summer

Mondays just suck in general. Plus, that's when good TV shows are on.

That's the idea of a podcast, so that people can listen to talk later

Well all the 643 Sports stuff is saved as an individual podcast, but somehow I don't think many CCSers are finding their way to listen to it period.

Give people a reason to listen to it. Regurgitating your own analysis of current affairs alone won't be able to bring in a listener base.

Innovative/Funny/Creative segments can pull people in. I listen to the show and try to help push it because I know you guys. Come up with a valid reason as to why Joe Schlub is going to listen to it, and then you will find more people gravitating towards the show.

Well in that case I guess our de facto gimmick is comedic and in-depth sports coverage. We're funny, but we also delve deeper into the sports and issues than anyone else. But most of all we try to be funny and entertaining.

And we tried that "segment" bit for awhile, two different ones, in fact. The thing we found out is, getting people to participate in a segment is even harder than getting them to listen to the show. You can evolve a segment once you have the listener base, but rarely will a segment evolve a listener base.

While I agree w/ the bolded, it should be noted that the rare circumstances in which a segment evolves a listener base are considered the greatest segments...however, that's the exception that proves the rule...

When's your next show?
Do you take callers?
How interactive is the show?
How long is it (typically)?
What all do you cover?

1) Every Monday at 7PM CST (3-year anniversary on October 11th)
2) Yes
3) We take calls, can take emails and we have a chat room running throughout the show
4) Hour and a half
5) Pretty much everything. We tried to do all national stuff for awhile, but as of late we've been covering more Chicago-centered stuff, both because that's what we tend to know best and because we wanted to narrow our scope a bit, and now we only dabble in bigger national stories.

Sports? Politics? News? All of the above?

Usually just sports topics, we'll occasionally discuss things outside of the sporting realm if we find it funny, and sometimes we skew off on tangents like my perceived hotness of Rebecca Lobo, Rich's (FedEx) hate of the Tom Selleck classic Mr. Baseball, and occasionally some video game talk.
