Just turned 30.
Kids are under 5.
I don't think anything I say is going to change his mind regardless if I choose to voice my opinion or not. Ticket has been bought.
My only concern would be for his kids. They're getting the raw deal.

Honestly, if he goes through with this his kids will be better off in the long run.

A single parent who gives a shit causes far less damage than 1 parent that gives a shit and 1 that doesn't. He may be a eunuch for running away from them, but given the level of issues he has that he's failing to deal with coupled by the tension and strain staying will put on him, his wife, and the kids they might actually be better without him than being saddled by his baggage.
