It's definitely the reason I never played much chess. That kind of strategy is not my strong suit.

Its not that it isn't your strong suit, its that it requires you to really critically think and plan like 10 moves ahead and for all sorts of different moves your opponent can make, and most people dont have the desire to expend the mental energy to do so, or lack the focus, its not that they "cant".

Its like math, alot of people that suck at math, isnt because they suck at is so to speak, they just have no desire to put in the work to not suck.

Like Mass, I played more in grade school and played in the district tournament. Once I hit middle school I fell into the "chess is for nerds" type of thinking and dropped it. I'd like to get back into it as it's actually a great strategy and thinking game.

I'm far from a decent player. I don't know most of the textbook openings and don't know many of the standard strategies. I just like to play. Especially against others who aren't studied players.

Is signing up for Chess.com really the only way we can get this done for all of us?

No, there's a lot of chess sites out there. I only picked that one because I can play a corespondance type game on my phone.

Expect him to "accidentally" tip the board over anytime now. That's how he rolls.

At this point in the game he only has a few pieces left. Would not be hard to reset the game.

Phranck, I still remember the 4 move opening checkmate, but outside of that I have no basic strategy.
