I was about to say the same thing! I live in north richland hills and that is my go to spot! last year when the power went out, I had bears fans huddled around my iphone with my directtv app. Good people, Good Food

I cant wait for the season to start. Sundays just are not the same without seeing everyone at Dub's. I usually get there at 11am to save a couple of tables for my "crew" lol

Paul's Pizza, Clearwater, FL. Not really a sports bar, but a legit thin crust Chicago pizza joint, which, down here, is better than a sports bar. Amps it up on Sunday.

New York style pizza is thin crust. Chicago style is deep dish. A crunchy style thin crust should not be attributed to Chicago !! =)

I wouldn't say thin crust is a NY thing necessarily. I grew up on thin crust in the Chicago suburbs and it's better because it has better sauce, better sausage and more toppings. After leaving the Chicago area, I haven't exactly been wowed with NY pizza and I've had a lot of it.

NY style is a specific well known style thin crust, and I don't care for it either. I also like thin crunchy crust and some people say this is also a chicago syle pizza, I just call BS on that. Thin crust pizza is a standard bar food pizza in the midwest.

I grew up on House of Pizza in Lansing, very greasy, but that was good. Then Aurelios, Sanfratellos and Giordanos, but usually thin. We'd get deep dish from Giordanos and stuffed from Arrenellos, but in my life in Chicago it had to be 90% thin crust.

Hah. That's funny, small world. More than likely related. There are quite a few of us in NW Indiana etc, but not that many.

I know the name. I'm trying to remember how we're related. Smit is another common one :) My brother and sister both went to Illiana - Matt and Michelle. We moved to central IL when I was in 8th grade though, or I woulda been there too. Went to Highland Christian before that.

Edit> Van Kley is starting to sound SUPER familiar now for some reason. Like maybe someone either my brother or sister hung out with. I'm thinking one of my sister's friends.

Edit 2> Errr. I'm thinking of Rachel Van Kley. I think. I went to middle school w/ her.

Edit 3> Your name isn't Wes is it? Or Brian?

We might want to take this to PM before it gets too personal :)

My ex was Diane Smit. Us dutchies tend to band together :) I actually went to Eisenhower and Heritage (both public), but when I went to Illiana, most of my friends were from Lansing Christian, HC or Demotte.

Probably the most Chicago decorated bar that I've seen outside of the Midwest.
I have been there...I think. Right off the old historic district? Lots of Chicago stuff, but No White Sox stuff. Owner is a big Cubs fan. I get there a few times a year for business.

You are correct.

Also, pulling this thing full circle...did you know there is an Aurelio's in Naples? I ate there once. Pretty good. Not quite 100% the same, but a welcome change from the normal shitty pizza we have in FL.

when I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC in a town called Jacksonville, there was a bar called Ducks. it wasn't specifically intended to be a Bears bar but that's where all the fans congregated and the Bears were always on the main TVs and over the speakers. strange thing was that right around the corner was a Packers bar.
