Aww, gee.
I missed all the Hawks power plays.
Come to think of it, so did the zebras while they were cheering for the dead fish.

if we can win in SJ with no penalties called for us, we should be fine! 7 more games!

Niemi was an f'ng stud today.

That stretch at the end of the 2nd period from the sharks' power play (about 4 min) to the end of the period was unreal. Then the 6 on 4 had me nervous but Niemi saved them today. Great game. Buff coming through again too.

Yeah, that would be nice. Who was it that fell right on top of Niemi? I thought that was a penalty on the Sharks, then they come back from commercial and Sharp is in the box. I guess you can tackle goalies now?

If we leave the sharktank with a 2-0 lead, it will be extremely hard NOT to win this series!

ummm...a 2-1 game where our goalie had to stand on his head to even keep it close is a good indicator of a sweep?

We allow one goal and we didn't have a chance on the power play. SJ has no answer for this!

Winning a close game and being able to hold onto a lead late in a game are good indicators though. If the Hawks got one power play they might have been able to open up a two goal lead, and really got the game going in their favor. As is, though it is a huge win, and it feels so nice not to be down 0-1 to start a series for once.

It was only close because of the way Niemi played..look at how many times the Sharks had a rolling puck or just missed on a one-timer. That game could have easily been 4-0 San Jose, it just so happened that Niemi played probably the best game of his career.

Winning a close game doesnt mean shit when you were out played by your opponent.

Really because I am pretty sure it means the Hawks have stolen home ice advantage and are up 1-0. Does that mean they are headed to the Stanley Cup for sure? Of course not, but I don't get the gloom after winning on the road when the other team has 5 power plays to your zero.

Im not being "gloom", I picked the Hawks to win in 6 games. But what i dont understand is how this game has everyone feeling so great that its time to bring out the brooms?

and btw home ice doesnt mean anything, this team tries to get way to cute at home, on the road they stick to the basics and play smart.

I agree with you that I don't see a sweep coming in this series. The Sharks are a really good team, and if they keep getting the man advantage like they did in game 1 it will cost the Hawks. Also agree that the Hawks have been a much better road team so far. So I guess we aren't that far apart after all.

Um feeling good because of how well Niemi played and I think that we sucked the momentum from them.
