That is a very good point and I also feel that as in the past, this is surely a hot button topic but that no real meaningful legislation is going to be passed. I don't presume to have all the answers, not by any stretch, I just don' feel that there is an end all, be all solution to stopping this kind of violence.

Seriously, you have thousands of inner city blacks dying by the gun every year for decades. Then you have some shooting sprees involving white people, even taking into account since columbine, that havent even come close to equaling 2012 chicago. Hell chicago has had Iraq/afghanistan beat for awhile as far as likely hood for an american to get shot.

Add that they are children and we care 35% more.



When a major city has a death rate of a small war across the world, there should be better steps taken to quell the situation by the local government, law enforcement, and public-- none of which has stepped up to the plate to rectify the situation.



Marching in the streets every weekend with local aldermen/politicians will only do so much to stop a killing that will happen later on that evening. Residents need to take back their neighborhoods one block at a time, so they need to come to a realization to work with the people they don't trust (the police), and the same goes for the other end.



Chicago had 40+ homicides in January alone this year. How many people in our armed services lost their lives last month?

You would figure this would be a slam dunk for Obama and company to do a Katrina-like flyby on the city of Chicago to show that they "care."

20 white people dead, we need to reexamine all of our gun laws, find the cause and effect of why this is happening.

40 dead bodies in Chicago in one month: they're animals (presuming they are non-caucasian) and let them kill each other.

It sucks in Chitown for sure, but they rank #10 on the list of the 10 worst gun violence cities with approx. 11.6 per 100,000. Tou really want to stay out of Nawlins with a disturbing 62.1 per 100,000. I love visiting Chicago and I'm not that concerned with getting capped when I'm there. I do however recognize the unfortunate rise of gun deaths in the city and surrounding burbs. I wish I knew what the **** was wrong with people.
