Didn't Chicago Tribune already have Chicagosports.com? They should've just kept that around and added video reports and blogs.

I would tend to agree with you. They should have just added the same blogging type content to that url. I also think they need to change their setup to come up with a legit front page, but hopefully that's one of the things they fix when the site stops being beta.

Yeah though I can only make it to 10 games a year or so.

I still hope to see you on the board you helped create, I know you wont be on as much but a few appearances and updates would be great.

I'll still be here pretty heavily, and I'm still going to release my podcast through this site. My time will actually go down the most due to another full time job I'm taking more so than anything to do with the trib site I think.

Wait. You say they're not giving it to you RIGHT NOW, but is there real potential for you to get a media pass? That's pretty exciting, even if you are too busy to take real advantage of it. You'd get locker room access?

Who at the Tribune is anti-Gordon, I know KC Johnson has stated that Ben should come back and the only time he wavered was after Game 7 vs. Boston.

The Bulls consistently go after top tier players and throw money at them...Krause's last years were marred with overpriced players and bad contracts. They overpaid for Ben Wallace too. Just because you have money doesn't mean you spend it on anything. The only debate might have been the Pau Gasol issue, where Reinsdorf didn't want to spend the money. But I think we take Reinsdorf for granted at times. He was willing to take on Peavy even though he has a strict rule about not paying pitchers more than 2 or 3 years. Once again, the Bulls went after Kobe Bryant hard, just as hard as they went at ARod and offered him good money. Why do you think Kobe wanted to come here? Because Reinsdorf and Paxson offered him the best deal they possibly could. He was willing to get the most expensive player in the NBA in a trade (Garnett). Reinsdorf is big on going after the top players in the game for the most part. He is just a shrewd business man.

They offered Gordon good money two years straight. I think 6/$54mil is a very good deal for Ben Gordon.

I think there is some real potential, but I don't know for sure really. As the tribune company, they clearly have the ability to give me a media pass, so there has to be some potential for them to decide it'd be a good idea no?

Whereas working for myself, there was probably no potential to ever get one, because the Bulls would never give a website a pass.

Mouthpiece Sports has one, don't they?

Mouthpiece Sports is run by some very rich and well connected people in the news business. One of their management members is a former Comcast - Chicago anchor.

I don't think it's a website thing. I think it's a problem with the Bulls giving media passes to bloggers.

Jerry Reinsdorf is old school, so it's not a real shock. Other teams, such as the Blazers, let bloggers in the lockerroom.

They let radio people in so why not bloggers. Doug do they give you some pay or is just job that you took to get your opinion out there?

I don't think it is a website thing rather it is an exposure + connections thing. A blog doesn't give them enough traffic to count as legit media. I will see how it goes in the future.
