Yup. It was obvious when Lepisto signed. We'll see what he gets on the market.

So I believe he will be the fourth player in a row with the Blackhawks who requested arbitration and is released.

See ya later you greasy tool bag.

LOL...kidding...but seriously. Whatever...if he wanted 3mil plus..he can go. Not worth more than 2-2.25mil and never will be.

Never played a full 82gms...hit 30pts twice but never a plus player. Not sure what eh thinks he's worth, but go get that money on a shitty team, instead of staying with a chance to win. Hawks moved Soupy and would've been the best chance in his career to win.

Peace out, *****. And thanks for that last play to Burrows you **** stick.

Not entirely true since Stalberg also filed for arbitration.

We basically got the same player as Campoli, in Lipisto, for a little more than league minimum. If Lepisto wasn't signed, what the **** does Campoli think he's going to get when he hits UFA in August?

Kuc: GM Stan Bowman on defenseman Chris Campoli: "He sees himself in a different category than we did price-wise."

SUCKS!!

We now have a hole on the bottom pairing in my opinion. But it's the bottom pairing so meh? It's not meh to me. i am particular when it comes to solidity on the blueline.

Lepisto fills that hole just fine. Campoli won't be missed.

I think I'm comfortable with Lepisto and OD revolving in the 6th d-spot role.

Obviously with Campbell and Campoli leaving, we aren't nearly as strong on defense as we were in the past (this also depends on Leddy's progression, and how the new guys fit) but I do think we still have a solid group that is slotted in the correct locations. We've always had the luxury of Campbell in the #3 spot, a potential #1 d-man, also pushing the rest of our D-core down. Now we may not have that type of luxury, but we still have a group that is capable of playing at the level they are all slotted at.

Last year we had six top four defenseman IMO. Keith, Seabs, Campbell, Hammer, Leddy, Campoli... any of those guys can play top four on any team. We were spoiled.

Keith/Seabs

Leddy/Hammer

Montador/Lepisto

OD

That could potentially be a very good D-core.

Campoli thinks he's worth Wiz money. Not even Wiz is worth Wiz money.

Come on, let's not bullshit ourselves here. Campbell isn't a #1 defenseman on ANY team. He's just not good enough defensively. He's a good #3, possibly a #2 on a playoff team.

Campoli isn't a top four defenseman, either. He definitely isn't ahead of Leddy or Montador on this current roster, which is why he's gone.

I think you're overstating our losses.

Yah I posted that before I saw the Lepisto signing. Smart move by the Hawks and Lepisto and his agent.

Bad move by Campoli. Probably could have got a decent pay day as well as a legit shot for a cup. But when you are a free agent I guess you gotta try to pry as much money as you can. Campoli doesn't have that many years left in the league. So I can understand it from a "need to get some pay now" stand point. Will be interesting to see if and what team gives him what he is looking for or if it blows up in his face.

I liked how Campoli played here in his short stint and I thought he fit in well and balanced out the blueline.

It's def going to be a new look blue line next season. Going to take some adjusting too.

He was a #1 on Buffalo, #1 on SJ and will be a #1 on Florida. He wasn't a #1 on Chicago only because we have two superstar defenseman that grew into the roles here. That's three teams right there.

Campoli has been a top 4 defenseman on every team he has been on other than the Hawks -- mostly because of the amount of depth we've had at that position. He was even playing on NYI's top pairing for a while. Montador did enjoy a breakout year with Buffalo last year, he has never been a top 4 on any team.

Our D certainly lost on D this off-season, but that's not to say it still won't be one of the stronger cores in the NHL. Last year and the year before I think we had one of the top, if not the #1 defensive core in the entire NHL. This years crop will still be good, but I wouldn't say it's the best, everyone is slotted exactly where they should be. Obviously, players like Lepisto, Montador and Leddy have the potential to play above their standards which could change my view of things. I really like the Lepisto signing.

Chicago now has 24 players signed and vying to make the final NHL roster heading into training camp -- along with organizational prospects -- which means Campoli won't be part of the picture. Bowman said he will trade Campoli's negotiating rights prior to his Aug. 3 arbitration hearing or allow him to become an unrestricted free agent after the hearing.

"We tried to work it out with Chris," Bowman said. "We worked our hardest. We went back and forth and made him our best offer and it didn't work for them. So we indicated that we're going to have to go another direction and they understand that. We ended up going to the free-agent market and we talked to a few people, but Sami was the guy that in speaking to him … he really wanted to be with the Blackhawks and that means a lot to us."

How does it work if Bowman can't trade the negotiating rights to Campoli before the 8/3 arbitration date? Do the Hawks just tell the arbitrator they aren't presenting and just automatically declare Campoli a UFA? I assumme they don't need to go through the process since the Hawks have no intent on bringing him back.
